Basic idea is being used for undue political advantage
by Prince Cool on Jun 04, 2007 04:40 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

It is important to identify and cetegorise the SC/ST persons to provide required help like scholer ships and self employment schems. But unfortunately it is now taking lot of polotical influance and reservations in Education and Jobs are unjustice to right candidates. I believe reservations must be rmoved by imediate effect and "HELP" can be provided by some financial aid to "UNFORTUMATES".

The truth

It is necessary to underscore the above explanation to understand Broken People %u2013 caste violence against India%u2019s %u2018untouchables%u2019. What may otherwise have been a fantastic work, had the report taken into account characteristics of India%u2019s varna/ caste-based social organization, has instead turned into a meaningless exercise.

Dalits are subjected to violence at every level, every possible form of violence. Documentation of violent acts, field surveys, analysis and identification of underlying causes, is an essential aspect of the campaign against human rights violations. To a large extent, this exercise is undertaken by a host of state level Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe panels, supplemented by a more powerful commission at the Centre. If hrw was genuinely interested in internationalizing the Dalits%u2019 case, it could have simply reproduced one of the commission%u2019s reports.

A human rights group like HRW should have learnt from the American experience. The civil rights movement in America, beginning from the case of the slave Dred Scott, who in mid-19th century filed a lawsuit to attain freedom, all the way to the Civil Rights Act of 1991, has revolved around a host of issues, including questions of representation in media, public institutions, the corporate world %u2013 in every sphere of social life. The movement won a major battle when the American Society of Newspaper Editors (ASNE) in 1978, decided to grant proportiona

Reservation is a hurdle for develpment
by Peddibhotla Srinivas on Jun 04, 2007 04:36 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Since 60years the governments are implementing the reservation for SC / ST and Backward Classes. Dr.Ambedkar given these reservations to SC and STs to improve them and to abolish the social imbalances in our society. He stated very particularly "Implement the reservations for 10 years only otherwise the social imbalances will raise once again ". But, till today they are in same stage in education, before implementation of reservations. So, the governments are failed to implement them properly. That's not O.C.s mistake. They why should OCs bear all these and how long it will continue.

There are number of poor people in farward castes are suffering from these reservations. No government has helped them to get the good education in schools and colleges and they can not pay the huge amounts to Private Colleges. Who will think about them ?

In my opinion the correct ratio is 5% for Physically Challenged (becasue they need assistance) and 5% for Ex-Servicemen (because they are fighting for our country in borders) is enough. Remain all castes, religions and gender not required the reservations. All are equal before Law.

Poverty is a common problem for all castes and the castewise reservations is not correct. All we have to develop and then only our country will develop. Everybody should think about our country only, but today everyone is thinking for their caste, or for their religion or for their region. We should feel the Nationlism, we are all one.

Job Reservation
by Prabhakarn Prab on Jun 04, 2007 04:35 PM  Permalink

If everybody is getting opportunity at his abilities, there is no problem or no requirement of reservation. As our people have not materially and mentally not grwon up to that stage, everybody is after reservation for grabbing opportunity to have their children study in professional courses and institutions under reservation. I have seen that reserved category 0e90oen are still depressed eithr materially or mentally that is why they cannot grow. Education and training and better utilization of man pwer is the only solution to eliminate the evil of reervation politics.

No reservations
by Ghost Rider on Jun 04, 2007 04:34 PM  Permalink

There should be no reservations at all in education / employment. Only "affirmative action" based on economic background. Reservation is warranted only in public transport, etc for handicapped, senior citizen, etc.

Reservation Policy......
by Dr. Ramachandran T.P. on Jun 04, 2007 04:31 PM  Permalink

It has been proved well beyond doubt that the present reservation policy is not going to do any good for the common man who deserves it. Its helping only the affluent who are in the so called OBC/SC/ST list. That clearly tells us that we have to change to reservation based on income. The political parties want only votes and the Nobel prize winner in that catagory is Arjun Singh. The days are near by where the so called UPPER CAST people of Kerala, like brahmins, namboothiries etc will start agitation like in Rajasthan so as to include them in the SC/ST catagory. I am really sad to see the way the politicians are exploiting the vote bank, thus defaming India in the eyes of the developed countries. We have everything in India, except good "rulers" who knows the pulse of Indians.... shame, shame, shame.

reservation
by indian on Jun 04, 2007 04:28 PM  Permalink

It is wrong to do reservation when all are equal in eyes of God. This is same as treating some one as more equal then compared to other. What we should do is a law which has religion printed in forms should be banned. Only nationality to be included. All schools and colleges should be nationalised like banks and every one should have same syllabus and same type of exam. Then these problems will be solved. It should be conducted the way election commission conducts the elections may be in phases or at once.
