THE ROOT OF THE PROBLEM IS THE CASTE ITSELF
by on Jun 04, 2007 10:08 PM  Permalink

FRENCH PHILOSOPHER VOLTAIRE HAD ONCE SAID "RELIGION DOES MORE HARM THAN GOOD" , I DEFINITELY AGREE WITH HIM ... TO GUARD AGAINST LONELINESS WE CREATED "GOD" AND THEN TO CLAIM SUPERIORITY OVER OTHERS "RELIGION"... HINDUISM DECIDED TO GO ONE STEP AHEAD AND CREATED "CASTES" WHICH HAD NO JUSTIFICATION,SCIENTIFIC REASON AND VALID BASIS BUT THE OBVIOUS, TO "DISCRIMINATE" FELLOW HUMANS....WE HAVE BEEN HAVING COUNTLESS DISCUSSIONS,PUBLIC VIEWS, FORUMS, SURVEYS,DEBATES REGARDING THE VALIDITY OF CONTINUING RESERVATIONS FOR THE SO CALLED "DISCRIMINATED PEOPLE" ; WHAT BAFFLES ME IS ,WHY DONT WE HAVE ALL THESE "PROTESTS","DISCUSSIONS","PUBLIC VIEWS","SURVEYS" FOR THE FUNDAMENTAL QUESTION....WHY SHOULD THERE BE "CASTE"???? WHY CANT THE GOVERNMENT "OUTLAW" IT, JUST LIKE "RACIAL DISCRIMINATION "IN THE U.S...???? WHY CANT YOU PEOPLE TALK ABOUT IT??? WHY DONT YOU GUYS EDUCATE THE PUBLIC REGARDING THE "EVILS " OF THE CASTE SYSTEM AND PROPOSE TO ANNIHILATE IT???? DONT YOU HAVE THE GUTS??? DONT YOU WANT DO IT???? OR IS IT BECAUSE ,YOU DONT WANT DO IT,BECAUSE ONCE YOU REMOVE IT,THERE WONT BE MARRIAGES WITH IN CASTE AND CASTE BASED POLITICS, NO BASIS TO "EXERCISE " THE CASTE BASED SUPERIORITY OVER THE SO CALLED "LOWER CASTE " PEOPLE???? IF CASTE HAS TO REMAIN AND PEOPLE WANT TO CONTINUE TO LIVE THEIR LIVES AS PER CASTE RULES AND RELIGION AS TOLD BY THE "GITA"... I FEEL THE RESERVATIONS ARE A NECESSARY EVIL ... YOU REMOVE THE WORD "CASTE " ,REMOVE LEGAL SANCTION FOER CASTE AND OUTLAW THE WORD "CAS

My vote is for No 5.
Reservation system totally be abolished. It is nothing but a vote bank politics artificially created by our politicians and making fool millions of poor, innocent and intellectual people of our country.Rich are not affected by this system at all. There are large no of SC/ST/OBC 's in our country who are well of and rich, then why reservation for them ? If at all reservation is required, it should be restricted to the poor, needy and down trodden only. It is seen that only 10% marks obtained by a student in medical/engg entrance test, SC/ST/OBC are getting admission but 90% marks secured by a intellectual but poor is not getting chance for admission. His mistake is he is higher caste. Where is the justice? Still time is there, people should realise the thing....
We should not fight among us on the basis of caste and religion. We will be actual looser in all aspects and the real gainer is our politicians.

India is DEMOCRACY.
India is not MERITOCRACY like Taiwan or SHARIA like Saudi Arabia.
If merit is the criteria, India should NOT get Independence from British.

Since Hinduism is a covert mask for Casteism,
Indian Parliament must amend constitution to promote cultural and socio-economic DIVERSITY in Private Institutions,Temples,Judiciary and in Defense Services.

* 50% of Priests,Supreme Court Judges,Defense Staff must be from OBC communities.
* 35% Priests,Supreme Court Judges,Defense Staff must be from Dalits and Tribals.
* 15% of Priests,Supreme Court Judges,Defense Staff must be from OTHER Castes.

India must have reservations **till** 85% of all registered marriages are inter-caste.
This is the only way to STOP dis-integration of India.

The best gets out & the rest gets filtered
by Ganesh R on Jun 04, 2007 10:06 PM  Permalink

The best gets an offer from abroad while the rest gets offers from India. By reservation on caste system, we are again ruining ourselves. If we want the best, we need to filter the best & retain the best

Solution: Quota system on financial basis only / More opportunities
by Gaurav Lohiya on Jun 04, 2007 09:58 PM  Permalink

Can you show me any progressive country in the world except India which has such a draconian quota system?

It is evident that such a system is divisive and will only make the situation worse as it would make the underpriviledged class population lazy and uncompetitive. They would demand more and more percentage of seats in educational institutions and jobs going forward. Soon time will come when there would be no seats avaialble for upper-class candidates even for merit-holders.

I believe that either there should be no Quota or if there has to be one, it should be based only on financial condition of the candidate irrespective of his/her caste. That would really help in removing poverty from our country and help the needy ones.

Today reservation is used by the well-to-do SC/ST candidates as they have access to all the information and means to get the benefits, while the actual needy ones who belong to the lower castes are still living in poverty and doomed to die like that.

If govt wants to solve this problem, then why not it opens up lots of IITs, IIMs etc.

Just one EYE-OPENER:

There was not even a single new IIT / IIM established in last 50 years, while all the 7 IITs and 6 IIMs were established at the same time. Is our Govt so poor that it can't establish any new world-class institutes in 50 years???

It is basically the politics played by Govt to rule India.

Just think whether we would be discussing this issue had there been 50 IITs and 40 IIMs?

Are you for or against SC/ ST reservations
by SASTRY J on Jun 04, 2007 09:36 PM  Permalink

I am not for reservations on cast basis.make it as economical basis. It makes some sense.
One should give them all the inputs so as to compete in the merit world. But no reservations on caste basis

All the stands taken by polititians may be right or wrong, but how can we give the justified answer to 5000 years of discrimination & downgrading with 60 years of Reservation........Just think of it.
