I am a 1st yr. college student & belong to the SC category. But I am totally AGAINST this reservation system. I recently got admitted to the top college in my state, just because of my caste. And I got less than 100 mks in AIEEE 2011. I feel like being trapped in a web of disgust. All my college mates are toppers (from GEN cat, having great ranks and 90% of them scored >90% in 12th boards, whereas I, just 80%). I think (no, I'm sure) I'm the worst student in the college with the worst rank. I don't understand how will I compete with these toppers for the next 4 yrs...
Another thing: Why was this caste system started at all in this country? My mates hardly talk to me just because I belong to lower caste. Was it my fault to be born in this community? Would there have been any such situation if there was nothing such as caste? Humans make dirty mistakes, and they themselves suffer due to them.

Your questions are about past, what you can not change now. Hence, face the reality and work harder to compete. You have only way to work hard and harder to compete.
There is a benefit of caste system and it is mostly enjoyed by upper caste.
The caste based reservation can be removed easily if govt, does not want to have a progressive society.
But, the caste can not be removed from mind of people. Because, most of the upper caste people are having higher power than any of the lower caste. Since, they enjoy the benefit of being higher caste, they would not like to abolish the caste system. But, to get the more enjoyment by removing the reservation, on paper they can kill the caste system. But, you can not remove from their mind and practice. The caste based feeling and thought developed for centuries can not be changed overnight.
My suggestion to you is that this is a challenge for you and you have only option to win be hard work.
i would like to say ,why there is a need for reservation to a particular part of society on the basis of cast. if any general category student got 130 marks in aieee (suppose)and he got 50000rank,but cant get admission in gud college, but if any sc/st student get 60 marks then he got 20000 rank(approx),just because of his cate. is it fare...if gov wants to give reservation to sc/st then give on the basis of income and talent of the student not on the basis of caste ,,bacause there are lots of sc/st people who are very reach, still they are getting reservation every where and the one who belongs to general who is very poor,he is not getting any reservation ..why????? this is very unfair,,revolution may occurs someday very soon.poor generals are feeling cheated by the government (in every field-education,jobs etc.) please arise my voice towards reservation.its very shameless that our goverment people who are well educated doing thiese all jus fort here votes and ..i dont know why they are doing so. the people who has taken this step,,,god will not bless you. our government is one of the dullest government in the world. tut tut.
reservation is a process not for the people who are born with the golden spoon..its for those needy people who did not have enough access to the opportunities available in the present day scenario.accordingly there is a need that a 'creamy layer' should be established..not just for the sake of it but with strict implementation adhered to it.creamy layer is a limitation put on these reservations by which the benefits are provided only to the people below a certain income level..though it has been settled in India but its only for the OBC category..the same should be done for SC/ST too..

Atrocities against dalits are rampant until this day and it is evident from the annual reports of National Commission for SC/ST. Fools do assume and propagate that dalits are free from discrimination based on caste. Assuming that a child from a forward class family and that of an oppressed class family had the same intelligence at the time of their birth, its obvious that owing to vast differences in social, educational, economical and other factors, the former will beat the latter in any competitive field, even if the oppressed class child’s intelligence quotient was much higher than the child of forward class, if the selection is made on the basis of ‘merit’. Meritrocracy is meaningless without equality. First all people must be brought to the same level, whether it elevates a section or delevels another, regardless of merit. Only after that merit becomes meaningful. Privileged people have never known to go backward due to reservations. Reservations have only slowed down the process of the 'forward' becoming richer and backward becoming poorer. Dalits are more than a quarter in Indian population but they are entitled to a mere 22%. Dalits are not devoring your share but dalits are protected by the way of reservation from you devoring theirs. Hence you need not whine. Every other non-dalit shld be at least for a day subjected to untouchability and made to clean n carry human excreta in order to make dem undestand what its to be
