telecall ban
by Shaikh Ahmed on Jul 24, 2007 12:06 PM  Permalink

Supreme Court has banned telemarketing and as far back as I remember Bharti Cellular was fined for the same. However most of the cellular operators are continuing this practice in the disguise of value added service. This calls does not stop even if the customer registers do not disturb with operators. Worst part is the telemarketers explain you a different scheme, activate a different one and charge you for something else in the services. The best way to get rid of this nuisance is to forward complains of these telecallers to trai left right and centre. Unless you do this, you sure are gonna taken for a ride.

it's not so important
by krishna tripathi on Jul 24, 2007 11:20 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I dont know what's the big deal about it! If you are not interested, dont take the call. In a meeting, as far as my organisation is concerned (a govt one), cell phones are strictly required to be switched off. It's somebody's earning yaar, let them do it. Why you say it has made life "hell"? There are so many other things that make the life a real hell. Remember, by banning the telecalls legally, you will get yourself a call less daily but the talecallers will get a meal less or a dream less for that sake. Thank you.

Ok,

After you will switch on your phone to get few sms giving you the list of numbers which you have missed, start calling them and then you will really enjoy it! Happy telecalling.

arre yaar itni choti si baat ka tension loge to badi badi cheezein kaise handle karoge? how many calls do u receive? i think at most 2 a day. So be cheerful and stop talking nonsence as sueing them and all. Roads ki haalat itni bekaar hai...go and sue the contractor. Drainage system is jam, go and sue the nagar nigam. it's endless. a couple of calls a day is no nuisence as compared to these...have a nice day

That's immature - you cannot make a living by disturbing people who do not want to be disturbed, and take a moral stance on that saying it helps you feed yourself. That's unethical. It's more dignified to work at a construction site to feed yourself.

By your argument, what's wrong with spamming? Even spammers are earning a living. So isn't it inhuman to use spam filters?

Nothing wrong with spamming. You block them if you dont want them. I am not saying that one should talk to them. I am just saying we wont get anything by banning them. Kyun..advertisement boards hatwao..they are also a menace to the society...cheap..exposing...inviting children to porn...hai na

A good job opportunity
by JYOTI FERNANDES on Jul 24, 2007 10:58 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I am paraplegic by birth & a graduate.
Tele-marketing has given me an opportunity to work from home & earn a decent living.
People in general think it is a menace, but it also gives some persons an opportunity to earn their living.
If you feel disturbed by a 'telemarketing call' just tell the person at the other end to delete ur nos from their list. I am sure a telemarketeer won't like to call someone again, when he/she is sure that the call will not generate ANY business.

Ok,

How many times you have deleted those numbers? I am searching for country club people to hunt them, every time they call I will ask them to delete my number and not to call again, IDIOTS they do call, even I threatned them that I am going to sue them, then also they have not stopped. I should consult any good lawyer.

I become either a telemarketer myself or a cop to have fun with the callers.
by Vikas Bhatt on Jul 24, 2007 10:52 AM  Permalink

If I am in a good mood and I get a call for a free Credit card, I pretend to be a credit card salesman myself and insist on the caller to buy my card. If I am in a bad mood and someone bugs me for marketing, I tell them I am Inspector Sawant from Kherwadi Police Station and that I will arrest them for disturbing a cop while he is on duty.

Make it simple and sweet
by Rohit on Jul 24, 2007 10:41 AM  Permalink

Here is what I do.

When the telemarketer introduces themselves and their product , tell them that you already have it.

"Oh yes, I already have taken a personal loan from your bank, Thank you."

And, they can be smart sometimes and ask for details, but you can say, i am not interested in giving you the details.

It will stop and they wouldn't bother calling you again.

Also make sure, you ask them to make an entry for the same before they disconnect.

The best way to avoid
by amtpur on Jul 24, 2007 10:03 AM  Permalink

The best way to avoid telesales is start speaking in your local language. Regularly i used to get such calls but i started in my north kannada accent and they used to keep the phone immediately.

There is nothing much to say
by Its Me on Jul 24, 2007 10:00 AM  Permalink

The tele callers are doing their work. When I get a call I would say Thank you I am not interested that you. Thats it. At times these calls have helped me. I have invested in many MF's insurance after I got call from them. So whats the big deal. If you dont want that call someone else would. Think, the company you work also has a sales team....
