Say you need a loan of 20crores as early as possible. I tried it once, the girl at the other end just slammed down the phone, never to make a call again

Rediff is also a culprit
by Ajay Banerjee on Jul 28, 2007 11:33 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Spam mail is also a menace-but can be reduced by spam filters. Hotmail is quite effective this way. But what if the mail provider itself keeps sending spam messages? Rediff is doing this and their own messages cannot be killed using the spam filter. I suppose I will have to stop using Rediffmail now.

No, you can simply stop it. They are sending emails based on your chosen interests at the time of signing up. You can remove it. Contact rediff help. Or call them. support.rediff.com.

Simple way to end it
by Ajay Banerjee on Jul 28, 2007 11:29 AM  Permalink

There are ways to end calls without being excessively rude. For instance, the moment someone says, "Am I talking to.." you reply, "which company are you calling from?" Some calls end there and then. If the person than says "I am calling from XYZ Bank.." then immediately reply "This number is on your Do Not Call Register. Do not call again" and hang up.
Why do you waste time in prolonging an useless conversation?

some of the mobiles have "screened nos" feature. especially NOKIA. just add that no to the list and u never get a ring or msg alert tone, when u get a call or msg from that no. so no disturbance to u and u can simply delete the msg later or ignore that no in the missed call list. ok.

You can't see your own back!
by Sandeep Bommanahalli on Jul 24, 2007 03:14 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

You have posted the article "Telesales calls: 'They should be made fun of'" and invited the people to comment on this. Well, many of respondents have said that it could earn decent living to someone. And your own website also is not far behind. My inbox is flooded with full of mails containing ads of one or other product or service. Apart from that ad pop ups are continious when i login.
Any comments.................?

Tele marketing
by sowmya gujar on Jul 24, 2007 12:25 PM  Permalink

When ever we receive such calls, I/my husband simply state that I/my wife is an employee of XYZ bank, do you want to continue the conversation? that will do the trick. Or some times we say that we are on national/international roaming and ask them to confirm they will pay STD/ISD bills. The caller immediately hangs up.

TELE MARKETING
by Gurudutt on Jul 24, 2007 12:13 PM  Permalink

Yes, the telemarketing guys are doing a job. Do not blame them. But where do they get our mobile numbers from? Even when I have entered my name on the \"Do not Call\" registers of three different banks and of one insurance company as many as 6 months ago, I continue to get these calls. I do not blame the tele-operators but I blame - [1] the Bank that sold my number eventhough I had forbidden them [2] The telemaketing compnay for not updating theirs calling lists.
