People living in Asian Countries (SAARC) need to accept this as a matter of fact they would face Racism in any developed country wherever they go. Until and unless you don't go to 3rd grade or 4th grade where you would not like to go . I think when in India a Foreigner comes have you ever noticed they way Indians talk or behave in front of them that is what has caused them to behave with us in that manner.
Racism is certainly part of the human condition. If you are a Chinese citizen of Malaysia, discrimination against you is codified and permanent. In America, white people are in mortal danger if they are seen in many areas of U.S. cities and towns. And blacks are not trusted by whites. You mentioned Shilpa, her travails and triumphs. But lately a new social/political message has come from elite opinion-shapers in Britain, and again Shilpa is the focus. Two "mainstream" papers have published broadsides against her. In one article, the reporter Judy Rumbold spewed vitriol worthy of Jade Goody, and even suggested it was time for Shilpa to freak off home. In another piece, some jerk named Ian Monk stated that Shilpa was entirely a British media creation, and nobody ever heard of her before Celebrity Big Brother. And the billion or so South Asians who had known her since 1993? Hey, those brownies aren't "people"; they are just potential bombing targets and collateral damage. The new political stance (Gordon Brown, tough guy?) is white, all right; black, get back; brown, lay down. If Shilpa can be trashed, what about the Pakistani baker or shop-keeper, the Indian doctor? Born here, you say? Citizen...eh? Well, keep your mouth shut and your head down. If you get beaten up on the street corner, don't call a cop, or you will be considered a terror suspect. That is the new reality, and it filters right from the top.
I have spent some years in UK. 2005-06. I have been in Hampshire at the time of 7/7. And I'm currently based in Switzerland. I also have to visit France and Netherland for short trips from time to time. What I found is an intolerance towards people with dark colour, limited means, strange language, odd accent and smelly food habits. It may be racism, may be not, I'm not sure. May be its just intolerance towards other culture, or simply sense of white supremacy. I have been frequnted english pubs, watch ManU VS Chelsea with my collegues, but always sense some unspoken iritation, specially among the aged persons. This is more in switzerland now, where a non-white, non-german/french speaking person is nothing but an ultra minortiy.

Very well said. Those who want us to stand with them should first return the money that the governmnt had spent on their education from the tax payers money so that the money could be deployed to give education to people where we have not reached so far.

What about Bal Thakeray calling non-marathis in Mumbai as outsiders??? Mumbai which is commercial capital of India where all indians invest in stock market. Most large companies have their HO in Mumbai and so declare their profits from there. Bal has the gall to think Mumbai belongs to his family

Mumbai is a commercial city . Thakrey wants to make it a communal city. The economy of Maharashtra will collapse if the head office of companies operating in different parts of India is shifted to the respective state.
Maharashtra gets % of excise and sales tax revenue from central governemnt just because the registered office is in Mumbai.
Thakrey should not raise issue of Bihari, Bengali, etc. At this age and in the larger interest of the country let him declare that he is a champion of Hindusatni cause and not a Marathi cause. He will not do so. He ditched BJP and extended support to Pratibha Patil because she hails from that state.

Bal Thackrey doen not represent all Maharashtrians and if all Maharashtrians had the same mentality then Shiv Sena would have been in Power.I am a Marathi and proud to be and almost all my dear friends are non-Maharashtrians and they are as part of Maharashtra as I am. All this rhetoric is because of Supply-Demand imbalance in India and again in most of the western countries we have the white people talking about Indians taking their jobs etc and that is what is happening in Mumbai, it is a part of selfish human nature. Then again dont you think that it is high time that we have have around 400 metro cities compared to just 4 for our vast population so that no one has a chance to fuel the selfish part of human nature.
No immigrant is allowed to buy land or house in Gulf except Dubai. Also, no immigrant would be given gulf citizenship irrespective of how long they live there.
Is this Racism ??
I would say NO. Just that the Arabs do not want their land to be invaded by outsiders. Yet, they need immigrants to work and help economy.
Now, its your choice, if u want to go to Gulf or not. Do not go to Gulf and cry Racism now.

It is shame that we are not allowed to buy land in Kashmir, Nagaland, Manipur and any North East state. Governemt should pass legislation to nully the old act

THE CASE OF KASHMIR IS SPECIAL, IT HAS ITS OWN CONSTITUTION. UNDER ARTICLE 370 ONLY THE NATIVE CAN BUY LAND ONLY. AND THIS IS THE ONLY WAY TO PROTECT THE PEOPLE OF J&K FROM BEING AN EXPLOITED MINOROTY.
Lots of north-east immigrants in metros are called 'chinese' or 'chinkys'. In the north, most south-indians are looked upon as 'madrasis'. Lower class marathis are called derogatively called 'ghatis' And the most racially taunted and ridiculed class are the 'baiyyas' from UP and Bihar. Are these all not forms of racism ?. So lets attend to Indian racism than one faced abroad

Very true sir ! But unfortunately it is all due to ignorance . India is a big country with so many races and most of the time we do not know other people so much as we know their stereotypes .
And I dont think exactly that taunting Biharis and UP people would be racism according to the definition of it but it surely is discrimination though .
I think people if they are educated about each other then we might handle it better .But the Indian government does not acknowledge race as a criterion in its working so it might be difficult for following up on this
