For a good listing of Weekend Getaways from Bangalore, have a look at www.itnatureclub.com.
I suppose, all the good places are booked by now. It is better to book much in advance - as most folks from Bangalore like to go to a few limited places.
Please never ever visit this place, Shivanasamudra. Contrary to what is mentioned in this article it is an absolutely worthless destination. There is hardly anything that one can do and also the falls are nothing spectacular. You can try Hoggenekal if you love waterfalls. This place is roughly 4 hours from Bangalore.

I agree wholeheartedly. A streach of around 20 Kms is pathetic, better to go by mysore road. Secondly, when we reached there and after seeing the fall, after 15 mins we had question in front of us, what to do now!!!

Intresting!!! We spent thje whole day enjoying a good bath at the falls below. Pls do not see the falls from the View area or the Hydel Project area. You have to drive abt 5 Km to the Dargah Nearby and trek down from there for abt 20-30 Mins. Take the local boat (Theppa) and go to the rocks on the opposite side. One day will reduce to a minute in rock climbing, swimming and enjoying the waterfalls.
No doubt it is a good place to see and wasting so much money to go and stay spend your time there if there is no other way to enjoy in Bangalore better go with care as the road jurney is not that safe.
Yes, it is an amateurish article as 1) There is no relation between the pics and the place mentioned. How can you have a backwater pic for a hill station like Coorg?? 2) Typos like : interestingly the Ranganathar SPELLING? temple is situated in the middle of the river on an island.
