Hello Siddarth,

Great Show Indeed... TO emerge as the best performer amongst the most practical and one of the toughest exams is indeed a great achievement.

I also agree it's just the beginning for you. Keep your head in the right place and we'll soon be hearing much more about you in 2 years time.

All the best.

Hammad

RE:dear Siddharth & Naresh, A little more tips on VA & RC
by naresh on Feb 01, 2007 02:33 PM  Permalink
Hi Sohan

On VA & RC:

1. You must increase your reading speed. This will give you sufficient time and better grasp of contents of questions / comprehension passages.

2. I do not know how you read, but please try to read without murmuring, or without the lip movement; i.e. increase your capability to read with quick, uninterrupted eye movement.

3. Read one English newspaper everyday - and read it completely, and not just few headlines / sections.

4. Share with your friends the new words learnt by you, and ask them to do so with you. Practice or use of new words would help retention of memory.

On your preparations along with work:

Spend minimum 2 hours every day, including weekends. Consistent efforts are better than the bursts near exam date.

Do not lose heart; do not feel stressed. Everyday, monitor your progress, feel positive and gain confidence. You do have a sharp mind, it is just a matter of developing speed without losing accuracy.

All the best,
Naresh

Clearing CAT is just the beginning....
by on Jan 24, 2007 10:04 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Hi

I agree with Siddarth on his closing comment that clearing CAT was just the beginning.

To all those who have got the calls for GD and interviews, I have the following tips:

1. Appear smart and fresh for the GD & interview

2. In the GD, maintain your cool, posture, and modulate your voice well. Admission coordinators look for team players, candidates with original ideas & analytical skills, and quick thinkers.

3. Do not attempt to garner attention during the GD. Be your natural self.

4. If you are carrying your certificates / degree etc. for the interview, ensure to organize them well.

5. Do not fake up your answers in the interview. Be honest if you do not know the answer.

6. If you have any work experience, be well prepared to answer questions pertaining to your work. Typically, an interview might go for 30 minutes.

7. Thank the interview panel while closing the interview, but do not appease them at any stage.

8. If you have your opinion and views, be firm, but not arrogant. They sometime try to provoke you or stress you out.

All the best, and more later on tough (yet, wonderful) life at campus.
