This is really a good article. I am also impressed by the views given by reader. Just like said above Delegation of work is Art. And if one has to elevate himself has to learn art of delegation. Also need to keep in mind delegating the work to the right person at right time. While delegating upward one has to clearly define why the delegation is made upward otherwise will not get the workdone. At last we shall not forget responsibility of work lies with us even if we delegate, so accordingly we need to mentor.
You can't just delegate anything to anyone. You need to follow a Directing Coaching Supporting Delegating Situational leadership model. You can delegate a task to only those members of your team who have grown enough technically/mentally to handle the task on their own, other wise you will burn up you finger because of a an ill-performed task and the team member will loose faith on his/her capapbilities.

Hi, It was worth reading. Try to add the communication parameter, interactions with subordinates, intervals of reminders, actions / rewards etc. I think this is of importance when you delegate work to your colleagues.
