Pani Puri and Bhel Puri
by Anil Bansidhar Jalan on Jan 15, 2007 05:53 PM  Permalink

How many people take these snacks daily ? even if so, if we adjust our total dialy calorie intake, we can still enjoy our lives. Otherwsie, just drink water - no calories but no fun also. You need to have balanced diet, but once in a while healthy ( not really the road side variety) will spice up your lives. One small doubt, has anybody measured actual calorie content of Pani puri v/s Bhel puri ? Is it really that high ?

Dr. Anil B. Jalan

Bhel Puri or Pani Puri

Irrespective of the fat & calories, more concerning is the hygenice condition. Also to note that anything consumed in excess is dangerous. Why take a risk?

Its better to have in a decent hotel rather catch the germs.

Bhel Puri or Pani Puri

You can either of it provided it is homemade.Recently a family of 3 died after consuming Pani Puri from the market.
People throng for these chat-papri and golgappa as known in Delhi oblivious of the fact that the water may be contaminated, the chutney may be stale and the lot of dirt/dust may have accumulated in the container .The flies too add to the unhygienic conditions.Typhoid and jaundice are diseases very common with these food products being sold in the open.

Pani Puri Vs Bhel Puri
by Rakesh Mohan on Jan 13, 2007 04:14 PM  Permalink

Who cares about the calories. If you are fit enough you will not get fat by enjoying the taste of either. And If you are fat already, there are many other things which add up the calories rather than these mouth watering snacks. It would have been better had author written about how much calories a can of coke/pepsi contains. Bhel Puris and Pani Puris are not going to make you fat if you compare with so called western snacks.

Panipuri is more healthy than Bhelpuri and tastier as well. The Chemical Funda is open to dispute like Mustard Oil vs Groundnut Oil. These are all marking gimmics without any sc ientific base. Hence just enjoy panipuri and forget about the consequences
