Can you please enlighten me on the various options available abroad and how to enter the universities. Apart from the above, kindly let me know the expenses linked with the studies and the stay overseas... What papers are you required to give and what is their cut off??

You are correct. Karan's column is primarily biased towards USA. However in last few years the other destinations are on an upswing. USA is the leading destination for Indian students with 24000 who went during 2006 but UK got 19000 and Australia got 15000 and these are significant destinations now. Imagine that Australia got 15000 and it has only 40 Universities. USA has over 2000 Universities. It is clear that if you are looking for scholarship and for research you should look for USA but if it is applied areas such as accounting, hospitality and even IT, the others are better bets. Australia and NZ are great for employability and residency after studies. If you are looking for unbiased rankings of world Universities look for the Times Higher Education Rankings and you will find several institutions which are non-USA based.
