You can only travel once two claim LTA. One time travel in the shortest possible route with or without your family. Only your rail fare or air fare can be used. If you have used any other mode of road transport than you have to submit your bills for the same.

Total working months criteria (is it min 15 months)
by raj kumargupta on Mar 05, 2008 03:00 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Hi,
As we know we can cliam for LTA after 1 year.
But quetion is that: For 1 year days starts from joining date in the company or the confirmation date in the company.

As I had worked for a company for 14 months and cliamed for LTA with document proof. 3 months was the probation periods. Now they are saying You haven't completed 1 years after your confirmation date. So if I reduce my three months probation periods then my total working months are 11 months.
So it it true as per the LTA rules.

Thanks in advance

Claiming an LTA does not depend on the date of joining as per law but your employer may have got a policy that it only pays LTA after completion of one year of service. u should check with your employer for any such polcy.

LTA tax exemption
by Indranil Hazra on Feb 13, 2008 03:24 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

The scenario is: A Company pays the LTA each year with the salary.

Question: In a block of 4 years, can I submit bills to get tax exemption in any two years? The reason for asking this question is the company says I can claim tax benefit only on 2nd & 4th year. Is it true?

income tax act does not gives u any such restriction. it say ANY two years in a block of FOUR years. It is quite posiible that for internal contriol purpose, ur company is saying this. you need to check up with ur employer.
