Your post on PPF was good. I recetnlt closed my PPF account after it crossed 15 years and after maturity. Is it possible to open a new PPF account? SBI is refusing to open a new account inspite of the fact that my earlier account has matured and clsoed. Pls clarify.
Post office where held PPF account is saying that you must deposit passbook with application to the branch where you want to transfer the account whereas local post office where i want to open account is telling that yuo must go to main post offic to deposit your app with passbook , then it will come to this post office .
I want to transfer PPF account held at Post office , to Ahmedabad.Ahmedabad local Post office aksed me to first go to main Post Ofice i.e. GPO. What is the procedure.
As per PPF rule 1968, point no. 3. Limit of subscription:- (1) Any individual may, on his own behalf or on behalf of a minor of whom he is the guardian, subscribe to the Public Provident Fund (thereafter referred to as the fund) any amount not less than Rs. 500 and not more than Rs. 70,000 in a year. Please correct the same.

just go to SBI Nagpur & submit application for transfer of account. attach the original passbook and your account will be transfered. If SBI Delhi are ready to co-opearte then you can submit the application at Delhi also.
I have a PPF account in Kolkata which I have not used for almost ten years. Now I am settled in Bangalore and want to open a new PPF account here. Since two PPF accounts are not allowed to be held by any one individual, I want to close the Kolkata account. What is the precedure, please?

you get your old account regularized by paying the panalty and minimum deposit for the period for which the account remains inoperative. After regularization you can tranfer account anywhere in India.

Most of the nationalised banks which opeartes PPF are providing the On line facility for viewing the balance. You can transfer the funds to your PPF account from S account by using NEFT facility.
