Degrees earned through theoretical training provides foundation/base whereas hands on experience adds more to this base. I think combination of both is the best one than any one of them.
Degrees are essential for mediocre students to get jobs and average success in the life whereas with only workexperience the success rate is very very low. There are only very few cases shining at the top with only workexperience and those may be the very fortunate ones. In general we can see the majority of succesful people have both degrees and solid work experience.
Degrees are mere a stamp of approval or a promotion for enterinng the corporate world. Otherwise degrees are of no use if you dont have experience of doing things practically.
We can take an example of jobs wherein ppl. are admitted in the office only if you have experience,
As an MBA student i just want to say "MARKS DOES MAKE U AN MBA" its the experience that pays you.
As far as degrees are concerned, they are just a GatePass to qualify for any Interviews....! But ultimately the "Experience" counts....B;'coz u need to be very well experienced and also it defines ur maturity, Indepth knowledge of ur field, talent, skills etc...which are most required in any field in todays market scenario....!
Are degrees worth more than work experience? No not at all! What you will gain from your degree? Nothing!!! work experience will make your life shape with the help of your degree as a CET, if not, it will take as its own shape without any CET and without loosing any time.
having done the degree in agriculture, i find the things are enterly different from what i learned in college and what the farmers are actually following. the percentage adoption of lab to land technologies are very less. so i think the graduates in college even other fields have to undergo practical work experience and intract and find what are the real problems and the students have to provide a solutions to those problems by any means.
