Dealing with your temper
by r d sharma on Oct 16, 2006 07:46 PM  Permalink

The cause of anger is that the things are not done as you want or are not done in time. To lose temper is no solution. What I do, I find solution. If things are not done in time - it means I have also not noted the urgency and if things are not done as I wanted - it means the other person may not be able to grasp how I want - the solution of this is - don't say him again or shout - do it yourself by just taking details of the case. As regards boss - if he/she does not agree with your viewpoint - o.k. - follow his viewpoint because the result of the same will itself prove who is right or wrong - no arguments - no losing of temper.

Actually I read and practised that if before losing temper you see yourself whether I may be wrong somewhere - substantial anger will go away and the rest will go with finding of solution. Output of your subordinates and boss will best be achieved if you you a solution fider than fault finder.

Nutshell

I think the basic thing is to feel good about self and about others. When we will go beyond the feeling of selfishness, we will never lose temper.

Lets not fight, but lets just have good feelings for everyone around us. Good feelings does NOT mean being supportive to people who are adamant and intolerable, but it means
-- Help them to understand their problems and suggest ways to come out of it
-- Be friendly and have a let go attitude

We cannot change others but we have to change ourselves !!!!

Just, always think"If I can't handle these people or situation, then some thing is wrong with me!! I have the courage!!I can do that.
Dear, never forget, job market is very wide & you can always change places. But before that "Do not loose your temper"

Seniors to behave as seniors
by Poornaprajnya on Oct 16, 2006 01:55 PM  Permalink

The article made a very interesting reading. The link to problematic colleagues was awesome. I would like to add, I have seen several of these types in my thirty years career. There are credit stealers, last minute entrants to run over the work. There are also bosses who have their own whims and fancies to form own likes and dislikes. Worthless people are pampered because of this nature. There are bosses who always depict that they know everything (notwithstanding they know certain things because of the persons whom they are addressing). But life is like that, we have to live with them. Unfortunately, when they hold the mantle, everybody has to be at their mercy, it's the sad part of the story.
