Make it clear
by Ramesh on Oct 12, 2006 09:45 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Author has forgot so many important points or has little knowledge. When you give an example make everything the same. Instead of using running, cycling and walking. The author should use the same. Running for 20 mins at 6miles spead you will be able to burn 200 calories and not 90.Also the author has to take couple more things into consideration. One does not need to run to burn calories for each and everything they eat. Our human body automatically burns calories no matter whatever you do. Like sitting idle will burn 60 calories/hour.sleeping burns 45 calories/hour.eating 1 hour burns 85 calories, driving car 1 hour burns 110 calories. For average Male it burns about 2500 calories a day.One does not have to run for 20 mins after taking idlli & sambar or cycle for 80 mins after eating pav bhaji.Only people who exceeds 2500 calories a day should be careful. For female its 2000 calories a day. Approximately.

i agree.but just to correct you on one thing.we sedentary workers(both male and female)burn less than 2000 kcals/day.i would say if we had 3 meals containing 500-600 kcals each and carried on with out exercising any more than our daily work,we should be alright.

Most Relished & Healthy foods
by BVSR Mohana Rao on Oct 12, 2006 08:19 PM  Permalink

Idli Sambar and Pav Bhaji are most relished and common food enjoyed by the people. When compared to Pav Bhaji, Idli stands better in terms of Health as it does not require oils for its preparation. It is mostly advised by the Diabetologists for Diabetic patients. Idli with Sambar, oh| what a delicious breakfast.

It will be good if u can provide a list of food items high calory as well as non-calory items to Diabetes patients.

Thank U

MOHANA RAO

coconut oil
by C L on Oct 12, 2006 06:39 PM  Permalink

Coconut oil is supposed to contain medium chain triglycerides which are believed to be easily digestible and unlikely to be stored as adipose fat. That olive oil, which is not native to our country, is best for us is a view point subscribed to, by this nutritionist. I hope it is not the case that advice popoular in West is picked up and dispensed in our country with out applying any mind by our nutrionists.

healthy food
by anuradha narasimha on Oct 12, 2006 04:04 PM  Permalink

Any food steamed and home made is a better choice other than Dhokla as it has soda in it to ferment faster.
