I disagree with the notion that IIM grads are just members of elite clubs and are not worth what they are paid. No one thinks of the potential and calibre in someone armed with an IIT and IIM tag! These people are possibly the most talented and true global assets. They deserve what they are paid. The one\'s receiving the huge sums are highly experienced and educated - and they have something which others aspired to get but haven\'t got it! Members of the same batch were also given the same opportunity, but didn\'t make it. After all, the guy with the top grades deserves the grades he\'s got, has worked towards it and therefore deserves to be on TOP. The opportunity was given to many, but only they fit in. So why the fuss?? Let schools and Indian mindset enable students to be great thinkers, learners and Global citizens ...
I dont understand, why Indian media hyped the Dream Dollor, pound Sallary....This will start a CAT & mouse race among yonug grads....Why none of our IIMs grads have a dare to start his own venture & then flourish it,so that we also can have our Microsoft,Dell or IBM...I dont remember apart from the Sunil "Bharti" mittal, any of the young Indian dare to dream high in a new venture in last decade,so why not these EXCEPTIOANLY telented young IIMs gards, dare to dream high beyond these Dollor & Pounds sallry & foreign placements!!!
Such type of articles are informative as well as thought provoking. They even lead you towards progressive thinking. Pl. continue with such types regularly.
The numbers arent just going crazy in MBA schools. Its a worse situation in IT salaries. Working for a top MNC, I have been trying to hire for a while. I am shocked at the way candidates bargain for salaries even without bothering about what the job entails. Worse still, most dont even have the skills or talents to match the salaries they ask for. But they are just going for the golden goose right now. My other friends in industry - managing teams in IT relate the same scenarios. People have set their minds blindly for 20-30% salary hikes year on year - without having even the maturity to realize that its not sustainable. Today we Indian IT folks are acting like that greedy farmer who wanted to get all the golden eggs. The costs of hiring an engineer are increasing too fast - in a few years we will be killing our own jobs. People better start learning Chineese if they want to survive long - or realize that our expectations of salaries are unrealistic.
" The income each person gets through the market is determined "
Essentially an individual who is selling his services is worth what the market is willing to pay.
Also the price that the market sets on the services of resources is affected by a bewildering mixture of chance and choice. Frank Sinatra's voice was highly valued in Twentieth Century United States. Would this be as valuable in 21st century India ? If he were to be born in india would he have been so successful ?
Mostly the choices made by the consumers of services that will determine the relative market prices of different items.
your article reflects the actual reality and nice.why media try to groom a negative feeling in society on this.what about the film stars and sports men earning tons of money?being an ally media also earns so they do not make any noise on that.young IT couples are earning or rather paid much more than scientists and doctors.?are they worth for it?student reach IIM with lot of hard work and fair overall knowledge.on the other hand media should fightthe cause for higher earning for deserving persons like scientists, sports person other than cricket and tenise and construction workers.
I really feel this is a gr8 change. We are treating film stars as our role models, this may change the trend.I don\'t really understand how people say that IIM guys doesn\'t deserve what they get? Do they feel all the film stars deserve the attention and money they are getting ? Keep it up guys !!
I would like to thanks the poeple who are posting these articles and sharing individualls views. In my point of views the Sallary that are being offered in the campuses for IIM/MBA, can setisfy the individual. When an indiviusual achieve the IIM degree and get a job in India or abroad, I did not hear back that what he/she has done getting this kind of big sallary. Did you hear? If they have done a degree from the IIM or from other equal institution, their mind should be equipped with all the skills those are require to grow and make other poeple grow, but I did not hear that any of the individual has done any thing for society or Country. Did you hear? If the one's goal is to earn money after getting the degree, I do not think that this could be the great acieivement in one's life. If I have learned to earn or make business, I should help poor or other who are struggling for jobs and giong to the wrong path. If one is going to abroad to after their degree, he/she should learn from them and get back to our country to apply that and do not stick their with Money. I would say that Money can be used for surviving but it cannot create a Image as Mother terresa and M K Gandhi.
