Hi,
Your suggestions are good. I have found the Woody\'s restaurant on Commercial street ( very expensive !! ) and Brindavan Hotel, behing Cauvery on MG road also to serve nice dosas with authentic coconut chutney .

I have had the privilege of eating in almost all of the outlets you have mentioned. Especially the Central (as it used to be called) and Janata hotel. The places around them have changed enormously but they themselves haven't. And the price of dosa might have just gone up a bit but the taste remains same. I used to like Kali dose in CTR and masala dose in janata. Ofcourse, Vidyarthy bhavan was another great place to eat.

I completely agree with you that sambhar must not be served with dose, especially with masala dose. They do it here in chennai ( i have been living in chennao for past three yrs) and HATE it. Moreover here they do not even have palia (they have some fluidized version of palia here) and the chutney's are universally bland and outright bad. Moreover they have the habit of putting three types of tasteless chutney and sambhar on the masala dose itself, which of course is ridiculous!!!

All in all, your article brought me back so many fond memories of eating in and around Malleshwara. And craving for Dose toooooooooo:-)
