How many Acceptance letters can i send?
by Vikram Kone on Mar 16, 2006 09:53 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Dear sir,
Thnx for ur professional insight and advices given so far. they have cleared most of my doubts. I have feww more queries which if u can answer will be very helpful to me. I have applied to around 11 univs for MS and results of 3 of them are out till date. I got one admit and 2 rejects. The univ in which i got admitted asked me 2 send the accpetance letter by April1 15th. shud i send the letter or shud i wait for other admist results so that i can choose the best of the lot. ??
Is it a thumb rule that we shud send acceptance letter to only one univ inorder 2 get only one i20 or can i send the acceptance letters 2 every univ which gives me admiss. so that once i get all i20's i can choose the best one..
Does this have any bearing in my VISA application. is it a crime to 2 send acceptance letters to more than one univ and get i20s from them and then zero in on only one best univ?? wil that have a negative impression on me by the interviewing officer...
plz answer this query..
Thanking u in advance..

visa rejected twice
by sachin chouhan on Mar 14, 2006 11:55 AM  Permalink

Sir,
I have been rejected us visa twice and again want to rapply for LSU baton rogue. All the stuff around me told that getting a visa for 3rd time is next to impossible. All the visa counselling institutes in Pune have well assured me that I not going to get visa at any cost. I know noone so expert who could show me the proper way. Since I come from a very small city where there is no orientation as such I am in a great puzzle. Even I have preoared exmas by my own in my home town. My only firned who was in US told me the way and has filled US visa forms.

I am in a great dilema. Plz guide me

Sachin

I-20 transfer
by Rahul on Mar 14, 2006 10:52 AM  Permalink

I think that one does not require a new visa when you get a new I-20 all the time. If you change your status from an undergraduate student to a graduate student in a different university or change from a Master's student to a Phd student in a different university, you do not apply for a new visa just because you have a new I-20 from the univ. that you are going to. I did my undergrad at Concord Univ and am doing my grad studies at Michigan State under the same visa although obviously I have different I-20's from different schools.

Some tips
by Surya on Mar 14, 2006 04:44 AM  Permalink

Hi,,

I got my student visa last sem..all I could suggest you is:

Three damn sure hits:
-Why US?
A:Dont give static answers like "US is a great place to study etc etc" when asked for a reason to study in the US.

-Financial?
A:Show them good financial records(consultatnts will help for this).

-Why this univ:
A Give them some insight on the research you've done abt the univ you're applying..compare that US univ with an Indian univ u wanted to study and tell them why a US univ(My ans was- "I was looking at IIT and I couldnt get thru and then I started looking for other colleges which could offer the same quality of education and I found this univ, thats y I wanted to go to US)

Be CONFIDENT and you will get it..
Remember - the consulate is not doing you a favour by giving you a visa-they just want to make sure u r a valid student. Ofcourse, you are going to shell money in the US-why would they want to reject?

Good Luck
