this article shows about the submissiveness we incorporated for the past 2 centuries
by Vinay on Jun 25, 2006 08:45 PM  Permalink

This is a good informative article, however I don't agree with the author completely. First, if the organization I work currently doesn't treat me porperly, and my quitting is to teach the organization a lesson, also find a better place for me. Why on the Earth I want to return back to the same Hell. This means it's a single factor called Greed that is driving me to work than anything else no matter other guy abuses me. This is ridiculous. Although when I leave I want to make a tactical move of showing that the organization is the bad guy by cleaning the desk and all other formalities, I will be missing the point of teach the organization how to do better. How much do you think the company gives a damn when someone left, it's not more than the concern for a departed soul. It might sound mean but then come on, the Earth hasn't got time to deal for one person for it's life time. I would suggest people do keep up their self esteem before extending any submission. It's high time we get out of this slavery we have been into ever since British colonized us.

good one, but disagree a point
by Mothish on Jun 24, 2006 10:20 AM  Permalink

Nice article. but i disagree the following point "It is NOT an outlet to vent your frustration about the boss, company policies, or the inadequate salary. If you had a bad experience, forget it and move on."

I feel i should not have the frustation along with me. So, indeed i would express my frustation and difficult times in a polished manner, so that they can get the real feedback and chances that others wont feel the same fate...

Resignation from the Services
by S D Nair on Jun 24, 2006 01:12 AM  Permalink

Hi !
Its an universal truth that"NO DEVELOPMENT IN LIFE IS POSSIBLE UNLESS U HAVE SOME CHANGE" To switchover your career u have to take a little bit risk in your career life. But the steps taken should be in right direction. Under no circumstances u should withdraw your resignation once it is presented before your management even if your Management tries to retain back with some higher remuneration. As it will later on give negative impact if u continue in the same environment. So think twice or thrice before resigning or else sort out the minor issues through discussions with your boss(s) which forces u to put your resignation before ur Management. During Exit interview, try to highlight/suggest the important issues for the further improvement and betterment of the Organisation. I have recently resigned and taken a stand not to withdraw the same. I was facing some problems with one of my bosses but it could not be sorted out even after passage of one week & finally i have no other option but to quit. Though my boss and supreme boss hav asked me to reconsider my decision but i have not at all in a position to withdraw the same under any condition.

Its suggestion not an advise.

Resign gracefully.
by Radhakrishnan on Jun 22, 2006 05:37 PM  Permalink

Well written article which throws light on the duties and responsibilities of the employee(s). This will be appreciated in organisations which have ethics also in addition to their business interest. However, there are many organisations which does not give emphasis on this type of ethical view. In such organisations, what if an employee does not follow this procedure?

Resigning gracefully
by Venkat on Jun 22, 2006 02:17 PM  Permalink

The article from Sunder is much impressive. You can find Tough Employers in the market and they just don't listen to releive before 3 months whether you finish your job or not. This is quite strategic mainly to retain the employee in a negative way.

What's the solution for this.

Resigne
by Swapnil on Jun 22, 2006 10:29 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Hi,
I am sharing my experince with the earlier compny when I put forward my resignation. As stated in the artical I was very specif when it come to writting a resignation letter. I discussed it with my immideate manegar giving the reason for the resignation. It was very polite. But when it came to relieving me from the company they strted all kind bad things they can do. They have asked me to stay back for three months which was not possible. I was ready to pay for notice perios but they said it depends on the company whether they should ask for it or not. I was there for one month after my resignation. I completed my exisiting project,i did handover properly.I finished all the resposbilities of the project & they also accepted it gladly. But they were not ready to relieve me before three months.Instead they try to put me in another project even after my resignation. So I had to leave the company without experience & relieving letter. One thing iunderstand that companies do not bother what is there in the employee hand book. They simply handle the case by case basis. They just keep on playing with those laws & haraass the employee leaving from the orgnization.A painfull experience.
