where to join MBA
by Cherian Jacob on Jun 20, 2006 04:39 PM  Permalink

I suggest you to do at Rai business School. They have excellent VFs from industry, internship in each semester and a networked placement activity. I have interviewed and selected some of their students for my clients. They are paid well. Well... in terms of recognition, they do have excellent industry recognition

MBA Programme.
by AS Bhambra on Jun 20, 2006 03:12 PM  Permalink

Dear Satya,
It hardly matters from where you do your MBA. MBA from a reputed institution will only open the first door. After that, it is your output, achievement of goals & targets that will matter. If you achieve your targets & deliver results, its fine. Otherwise, you are on the road - whether you are from Amity or from anywhere else.

Look for good faculty in any institution. That is the core of an educational institution.

Best of luck.

AICTE Approval?
by Anony on Jun 20, 2006 02:16 PM  Permalink

Hi
As far as my knowledge goes, MBA of ABS is not AICTE Approved. So better beware. You wont be able to do a PhD(if you want to do) in future & not too many banks will be willing to give you educational loans for HIGH fees, since its not appproved by AICTE. Also with so many ads they place in media, its just HYPE & nothing else.

It is a good institute
by Shruti on Jun 20, 2006 01:03 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I have a first hand experience. It is a good institute. I have read the other msgs. People say it is very expensive and are asking you to go only in IIMs. Very good advice. But if in case you have not been able to clear those. Amity would certainly be the second best option.

I was a student myself
by Harsween on Jun 20, 2006 12:28 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I was a student myself. Today I work in a NASDAQ listed company and doing good for myself. Practically every body cannot clear IIMs, but yes Amity is a good institute. They offer good practical knowledge as well. All my batch mates are doing good. Please just dont choose a institute like 'coz some people choose to say againest it.Check it out yourself.

Fully endorse your opinion.Irrespective of where u do ur MBA from, its always how good you are when it matters most, in the real world. And i still do not understand why people crib about the salaries. The figures you read in the magazine and newspaper ratings of B-Schools (including those of the IIM's)are hyped up and do not represent the actual take home.No body pays you for doing ur MBA, organizations pay you for what you are worthy of.Never expect a 10 Lakh salary straight out a B-School.Please be realistic people.

You need to do a lot of self evaluation and try to understand your needs from a school. Its always a need-payoff situation.Doesent really matter if ur college is recognized by AICTE or not.Organizations evaluate you and not your degree while enrollment.

So, my advice..please understand what you really require from a B-School and try to shortlist colleges based on your criteria. At the end of the day it has to be your decision so tht u dont repent for a lifetime.Let the world say what it wants to.

Satya's query
by Jasmeet Singh on Jun 20, 2006 09:14 AM  Permalink

Satya, I have gone through all the views posted by people good and bad both. Here we come to an imp ques which still is unanswered, which is:what do u expect out of a business school?. Good and bad r relative terms in 2days times, what makes a place good or bad depends on U & no one else. My tenure at Amity was great, i got a good job & moreso went back to Amity when I wanted more people. Most of Amity is doing well in the Industry, there r people at some very important posts who r Amitians.
Satya, I believe, & people can contest that with me, that only ONE B school degree cannot make or break your life, sucess or failure is definately a deliberate effort. Ur upbringing, ur schooling & peers would have already had a very deep & almost indelible mark on ur personality even b4 u enter a B school. Any B school will only improve & reallign the skills that u already posses or marginally improve them, NO and i repeat NO B schools can change u from Black to White or Vice Versa. Sucess is dependent on the number of opportunities u get to show ur skills & Amity will do that.
Amity is definitely up there, great campus, good faculty & great infra. Wht u do with it is upto u.
