All you need to do is to take an external USB harddrive. Take the complete image of your machine onto it. Done, you can always restore the image and all is well.
An external hard disk is a great way to do this. It is very light, sleek and small and has tremendous data holding capacity (40GB, 80GB, 120GB and even more) and is very convenient to carry and use. The cost also is quite optimal starting from Rs 4500 for a 40GB disk. Rohit Ranjan
RE:Work on a PC? Create a backup

Wouldn,t it be a costly affair to use it as a back-up and how often you can do that. I think it can work in only limited situations.
In addition to what has already been stated, one can also make a copy of his addressbook on the pc (an xls sheet or an access document) and store it as an e-mail in one of the free sites or as stated in the yahoo briefcase. This can help help him, if he has lost his belongings in an unknown city.
Most computers run on Windows XP Pro, even home users prefer XP Pro. In XP Pro click Start and then click on run and type in "ntbackup" (without the quotes) and click Ok. what appears on the screen in seconds is FAST (File And Setting Transfer) Wizard. Follow the simple instructions and backup those files etc.
