Approval of supplements
by Dilip Coulagi on Jun 01, 2006 07:10 PM  Permalink

While the write up on supplementation is reasonably balanced, note that supplements are NOT approved or disapproved by the FDA in India (there is no central body which regulates supplements, and there is no law under which a regulatory body, state or central, can approve supplements; the only law is the Prevention of Food Adulteration Act, which is hardly enforced). As far as I know, the USFDA also does not regulate supplements. I have never seen such an approval on the label of any supplement I have come across, so how can anyone find a supplement 'approved by the FDA'?
