I would very strongly feel that you should put in a couple of years before pursuing an MBA.
This is an ongoing debate worldwide. In North America, students spend the final two years of their academic career pursuing MBA and treat this as a bridge between work and study. In Europe, however, MBA is treated as a more post-experience qualification [and hence, most take one year to complete] and most people come to do an MBA after spending a few years in the world of work.
I do think this needs to be decided after considering many factors, What education did you have so far, what you want to do in life etc., and there is not one correct answer to this question. However, personally, I am inclined to think that post-experience MBA suited me better. I received usual Indian education, leading to a post-grad in economics, but this did not equip me with enough practical knowledge to be able to join Managerial corps. I had to stay in the game, travel, see the world and finally find my vocation - before choosing to do an MBA.

Every career aspirant has this dilemma. Being HR Professional I wish to advise you better go for MBA and gradually elevate your experience and expertise of your specialization that will help you. This question of chiken or egg first will waste you time and energy on right onclusion.
I Have Almost 8 yrs of experience in this dynamic industry , but i have not reached at such a level so i prefer that Mba is must to get further progress
As so many people said that, if you complete your MBA and get experience in a company costs some years. so this is the matter of age. Thats why, better try to get the job with the help of your degree along with your MBA. It will helps lot and saves time.
It's a really gud question & I think after completing my one year as a Management Trainee..........I still believe that u should def. have som work exper. before u plunge in the world of management studies.
I will like to list out few points to support my argument:
1. Whn u hv expereince, u can link ur studies with the practical knowledge that you have aquired after the exp.
2. You can relate to various topics in a much better way .i.e, If you are doing Fund flow analysis or a study on working capital requirement & if you have some inhand exp. on the same....It will make a hell lot of a diff. in the class room at the time whn ur prof. will impart that to u.
3. You realise the importance of team work in an organisation..........whn u directly join MBA college.u start doubting about the importance of it.
4. Work pressure will make u a much better student.whn it will come to handle the proessure of ur prof.
5. U will relaise tht ur boss is always right.......and the same implies whn abt the prof.
The list can be long & ther can be both Pros & Cons..........but I persoanlly believe that any SUBSTANTIAL work exp. makes a lot of diff.
MBA through GMAT requires around 5yrs exp while IIMs in india take fresher as well. However if you are wanting to make career in indian market the preferbaly you would like to join any indian biz school hence you could go for MBA directly. However if want to go abroad then its other way round.
