Hi ! Shalini, No doubt work exp has so many advantages in & after doing an MBA but it is also true that if u are reading and understanding each & every things around yr environment ,u will not miss very much.
I think that one should work for some time(2-3 years) before doing MBA.Once you have seen the industry from inside you understand the concepts more easily as you know all the nuances involved.
but,i dont think that you should work for more than this if you intend to do a regular MBA.but, if u work for more time, say 5-6 years, then executive MBA from IIM-A or ISB should be your choice.
out of these two options, i think that the first one is better.but, these are my personal views & may or may not be the best ideas. Please consult some specialists in this field before taking a call.
I am doing 1 year General Management Programme from XLRI Jamshedpur. I have the work experience as an officer for more than 6 years in a very large PSU Bank.
In my opinion everything depends on your age, need and your approach towards life. If you are very young and get admission for a very reputed institute like IIMs or XLRI or some other reputed institutes, you should go for it. But, even you have work experience, then also you can for the MBA course that will give you more confidence and very much rewarding.
MBA CAN be first only if it is done through very top rated college such as IIM. Otherwise its work first. MBA from other college have no value and they are treated as Clerk. I was victim of this as I was unemployed for one year after doing MBA with throughout Distinction and was Second Topper in Mumbai University. So go only for BEST and forget the REST
hi shalini, i have done MCA and working as Sr. Branch Manager in top pvt. insurance company. selecting candidates for the post of sales managers and office staff is the part of our job profile and when we select any candidate, we prefer a experienced guy on a fresher MBA. if any experienced candidate have MBA degree, we give him/her highest preference.
This is Pratik and i had been working since 2002 ever since i completed my Graduation. Well diff people have diff perspective for doing MBA and it all depends upon various factors.
I personally believe that working in an industry and the pursuing MBA / part time MBA is better because then u have the industry experience and u can relate what u study to the industry. Well thats my view of looking at pursuing MBA , so I have now decided to do a part time MBA and have taken admission in NMIMS - Mumbai.
Well thats another view to it also , if u think that u minght not get a job in agood , reputed firm , then u may opt for full time MBA immly after the graduation , well u will spend another 2 years and then come out in the industry as a fresher , but they are more preferred.
Well diff peorple have diff views , but it would be much better to find out from the organisation in which u would like to join , wheteher they prefer freshers MBA or they encourage doing a MBA course after work experience.
A HR mgr from a reputed firm finally would be the best judge to answer such q's. So whatever u decide be doubly sure else u may wate a lot of time which is too precious.
