Hi,

1) If we are traveling by personal car, can we claim petrol bills as LTA?

2) Stay in hotels is covered by LTA?

I doubt about travelling in personal car, as the bills from a travel agency or transport is must.

Stay in Hotels is not covered, only travel charges (tickets)

If your employer gives you an option to avail LTA, then it is eligible for you. Generally, all Private & Public companies provide this.

All you need to know about LTA

This artcle talks well about the procedures to make a claim for LTA. But it does not talk about maximum limit of LTA claim. In case if it depends on one's basic salary etc. Suppose my employer sets only Rs. 5000 as LTA. Do you think that this amount is enough to travel somewhere with my family?

It would be nice if you through some light on this.
Thanks,
Sachi

LTA is normally decided by your employer. Basically it has to be one month salary of yours for the year. If that is fixed as 5000 rs. then that's the maximum you can spend.

You can ask for the Railway Tickets to be returned from the Checker. They have to return it after marking.
