i want to know, in the block of 2006 to 2009, i have utilised only one LTA claim for myself only and it was in calender year 2009 and dates were february 1 2009 to february 6, 2009 and now i want to claim second LTA for my dependents parents in the month of may 2009.
The scenario is: A Company pays the LTA each year with the salary.
Question: In a block of 4 years, can I submit bills to get tax exemption in any two years? The reason for asking this question is the company says I can claim tax benefit only on 2nd & 4th year. Is it true? In 2006-2009 block, I got tax exemption for calendar year 2006. I travelled in 2007 and I have all the bills ready. The company says that I can't claim tax exemption for the two consequtive years. If i travel on 2008 that I can use for LTA tax exemption.
P.S. The company accepted the bills for 2006. This clearly goes against the logic it raised. But still they are saying that I can not!
1)i have not claimed an LTA till now(From Jan 2006 till March 2008), so will i be able to claim LTA continuously for the reamining 2 years(i.e For 2008 and 2009) 2) since the Lta is for a calender year.. can i produce the LTA bills for tavel in 2009 for tax exemptions in march 2010
