ISB - is toooo much of a hype !!!!
by Anand on Jul 09, 2006 10:04 AM  Permalink

Only a few get real gud jobs because of their rich academic background (some IITians) or gud previous work-ex.... Most end up getting a normal placement like most other top 20 B-schools in india....
Its the sheer hype about the BIG names associated with the institute ....but sadly FALLS SHORT in actually delivery of inputs.....

Aren't the placements of ISB hyped tooo much ??
by Anand on Jul 09, 2006 09:51 AM  Permalink

Only a very few of the entire batch get good placements, rest all get the usual jobs like any other top 20 b-schoool in india.
Too much of a hype -- with less delivery & therefore not worth the 15 lacs tat it charges!!!

Its not abt ISB/IIM
by AK n SJ on Jul 09, 2006 09:11 AM  Permalink

It\'s not about the institute you are from... its about you, and what you make of what you have. The problem with institues like these is that it mostly makes followers (leaders are NOT made by institutes anyways)... people whose only sense of pride is in being from that institute.
I wish it was more about how Indian b-schools compare with the best in the world (and they stand nowhere - those individuals that have made it big have done it on their own merit)... currently, its like two nobody\'s fighting on who is better.

For the records, this is two people... one from IIMA and the other from ISB.

isb is just minting money
by avinash on Jul 09, 2006 05:28 AM  Permalink

whats the credibility of ISB? placement is good becoz indian economy is booming. every tom dick and harry is getting job. credibility of jobs doesnt matter. and students entering ISB are already laterals from top firms..so its quiet easy for them to get placed. i dont think the degre change their profiles much
ISB compares itself with top US mba college and it even doesnt comparable to indian mba colleges.
if u see the cost at cornell for 1yr mba. its about $50,000 and for ISB its about $40,000.
have u seen the living cost? tution fee is compared with US schools? why the hell cost will be same in india and thats doesnt make any sense.
ISB is just minting money in this booming economy and makiing money from the software professionals like me.who earn from onsite assignments and dont mind spending the easy earned money :)
there are lots of schols, RA ship in US schools.i would suggest u guys to look for options instead blindly following

ISB program a gateway to big fish job. , no doubt it is the best Management education provider in INDIA. Companies which have not visited india are recruiting ISB grads.,Which it self tells its story.

that companies which have not visited India but go to ISB speaks volumes abt the marketing of ISB not its quality.....it also speaks abt the "blind" recruitment of those companies...

Uncomparable
by Preity on Jul 05, 2006 07:31 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Comparing ISB with IIM's is foolishness. They aren't comparable. IIM is a 2 year MBA program where as ISB is a one year program. IIM is quite established institute where as ISB is still a novice. ISB will take only experienced people where as IIM will take freshers too. You can't expect much of peer learning in IIM's. But yes, may be they will arrange guest lectutes and all that stuff.

If you think in terms of placements, IIM's gets jobs easily because most of the students are freshers. Getting jobs for freshers is lot more easier than getting jobs for experienced people. Experienced people will have specific requirements.

PS:All I wanted to say is IIM and ISB are different and they are not comparable.

Management Politics
by Sunny on Jul 10, 2006 09:24 AM  Permalink
Its strange to note how bright Indian brains studying in good institutes like ISB or IIM waste their time thinking about useless issues and not be more mature. What really matters is not brand name or tag, rather skills acquired over long term and quality or learning. While experienced or freshers both have their own advantages, Indian B-School students have to learn to rise beyond hype of placements and look beyond. Management is not politics and don't try to make it one please. Think global IIMs or ISB don't even consistently figure on the top 100 institute rankings in world, a long way to go still. Do your duty and let the results follow.

ISB
by stupid on Jul 05, 2006 10:11 AM  Permalink

The placements at ISB are average. A few are still jobless. Most went back to their companies. A few 10-12 got fab salaries. The rest are 3-8- L range.
See the CVs floating around and you know what I mean

The list of major companies looks dwarf when you compare it with the ones at IIM A,B or C.
