Hi,
I am also repaying my education Loan of 10,000/- per month, I have taken the toatl Education lone of 2,50,000/- with the interest rate of 11.25%.
What will be the actual amount i will get the Tax benifit for?

Interest charged on the duration of course???

Hi,
I would like to know that what is the tax deduction procedure for the period during which the course is going on.

Suppose my course duration was 4 years and i joined college in 2001 and took the loan also in 2001.
Now i started the re-payment in 2005 so how i can get benefit for the interest for the duration of 2001-2004?

your are eligible for tax deduction only if the loan is taken in your name

No. Only your son can claim the deduction from his income.

the amendment to section 80E of the Income Tax Act clearly says that tax benefit by way of claiming deduction is available only on interest payment of educational loan.

Thanks rediff for posting info. abt the tax benefit loan. I was still following the earlier provision for tax calculation and many of us are still doing the same.
