Idea of a Party
by Tanya Munshi on Dec 07, 2006 03:55 PM  Permalink

If you get a chance, visit an official dinner at a defence establishment. You will see how polished some lmen & adies are, in the way they speak to the male colleagues of their husbands, in holding their drinks or even enjoying small eats.

Being on time, well dressed, manners such as wishing good evening to the person as Mr or Mrs xyz, and NEVER forgetting their names is very imporant for personal PR skills.

Party manners?
by M. Shankar on Dec 06, 2006 07:19 PM  Permalink

May sound 'banal' to some, but in reality these small tips are really bound to help those who are blissfully unaware of a need to know. How many times we see people filling up their plates to the brim, as if there is no second helping, nor a tomorrow to eat? How many times people get tipsy over a couple of drinks and begin to shake and dance, with a glass perched on their head? How many times we have seen guys stopping passing waiters and scooping out handfuls of cashew or whatever, as if the guy wouldn't make another appearance? How many times you have heard loud guffaws, or drunken brawls, wild arguments? Do we think of carrying small gifts to the host or hostess? Don't we plonk ourselves and sprawl into any convenient seat, before we are even asked to sit? Don't we arrive late or leave early once our 'fill' is done? Do we know how to respond to a 'toast'? Or the art of making relevant conversation as we go round? These 'learnings' may sound silly, but they are important. Frankly, many don't know, and those who know don't care. With us 'doing' global contacts, we better learn, more... and more..of such manners and etiquettes!

M. Shankar.

I don't find the post is idiotic. I knew most of the facts. So do many others. However it is an useful article and is nicely organised.

nice article......but...
by rajasekhar.k on Dec 05, 2006 02:11 PM  Permalink

It is a nice article about do's and dont's in a party. If you can tell me about the popular themes in a party if there are any, it would be very useful for me. and it is informative.

Thanks and Regards
K.Rajasekhar.
