We have been using Worldspace for last three months, it is really amazing, excellent quality, most importantly only songs, no too much of chatting or advertisement.
For a little additional monthly fee, you can always opt for 24 hour internet in your mobile (for reliance for example) which can then connected to your laptop or home PC for direct access to literally thousands of radio station & PodCasts. Of course, you have access to internet browsing as well!! With PC penetration in indian households at an all-time high, the argument on PC unavailability holds little sense. Worldspace is winning because people are very little aware of the options, and get overwhelmed by maketing.
dear sir, I am also one among the world space subscribers who gets vexed with the signal problem associated with this radio. Not even a single day has passed without cursing it for it does not play uninterruptedly wherever placed in the entire house so i definitly feel that it is not worthy of being ascribed with the features advertised.
I think worldspace should follow the "MOBILE" stratagy. Mobiles had less customers when they were charging Rs. 16 per minute. When incomming became free.... rates came down to Rs 1. per minutes... you know what happend.... mobile users increased.....exponentially...
I have been receiving the broadcasts of World Space Radio for three months. It has immense scope of catering to discerning listeners in al the fields like old film songs, classical music etc. And there is much scope for improvement in these areas too. Old film music buffs will be really glad if the Radio can provide them the music the way Radio Ceylon has been doing and they have the advantage of excellent broadcasting quality. If they cantap the right sources, they can come up with real gems in old film songs that are not available on casssettes or CDs. One important area that needs attention is the announcers.
I think this is the best value for money product. I would rate it much more than value as you get excellent music quality and very wide choice of music.
I was a worldspace radio subscriber since Oct 05 and frequently had problems regarding the reception inspite of installing the Yeti Antenna, The Company it self agreed that their was a problem with recption at Andheri East area.
I finally got fed up requested for a refund of INR 1999 for receiver,INR 1800/ for Subscription renewal and INR 600/- as Installtion cost. I also had to buy speaker for the BPL DIva Model, I only got INR 3419 as refund as according to them the receiver cost would have been INR 1200, now i am left with the speaker and dont know what to do with them.
I am definately upset with them not only for the poor service but also the refund amount
I purchased a Worldspace receiver and subscription 1 1/2 years back shelling out abt. Rs.5000 /-. As the location of my house provided clear visibility and no hindrances, I was looking forward to enjoying interruption free, crystal clear sound enriched music. though signal strength is shown as strong, the broadcasts get interrupted with channel loss. repeated complaints have not yielded any solution.
Reg. programming, the choices are limited on the Indian channles especially language ones. Malayalam feed is given by Asianet and it seems they have a tie up with Mr. Yesudas as he seems to have monopolised the air there.
Overall I am not sure I wuld renew my subscription next year.
Owning a World Space Radio, it is surprising that they or rather BPL has placed a restriction on the number of channels you can directly access through the remote control. For those not in the preset list you have to manuualy select by toggling off the preset button on the remote. Apart from this, reception and quality is excellent
