Off-campus expenses
by Dibyendu S.Roy on Aug 05, 2006 09:10 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Hi everyone,

I am Dibyendu Shekhar Roy, a student who is going to join Drexel University this fall 2006, my academic major being electrical engineering.

I have got a scholarship , infact the dean's scholarship to study there. But, unfortunately, due to my bad financial condition ,I am going to stay off-campus as on-campus housing is very expensive. Can someone please tell me as to how much approximately should I have to show the visa officer in terms of the rent and living expenses in a place like Philadelphia?I am going to share a place with three other people making it four in all. Please help!!!

Dibyendu

It should be written on your I-20. You should show twice the amount mentioned in I-20 as liquid assests.

You have to give GRE and TOEFL and fee varies between universities.

When you ask questions be specific, dont use words like everything.

HI ,
You may be exempted from Toefl (gotta contact individual universities for that )but I don't think you will be exempted from GRE for a PhD . Even people who do their masters and bachelors from US are required to take up GRE .
