About Rashmi Bansal column
by ammir on Apr 20, 2006 07:34 PM  Permalink

I completelly disagree with Rashmi Bansal. Here i will tell u why?.First of all, if ur a backward class, then u could have better understood the conditions that the backward people are faceing, go to some village first and see with ur eyes!! poor people even donot get food!, leave education apart!!These foolish media people write mails sitting in AC room, with sipping NESCAFE in there mouth!while backward class people even donot have proper homes to live, clothes which they wear for years!! u cant imagine, when u fell it u will better understand that!!!. Due to researvation only some of the backward people are getting good education and they are knowing, the world!!,One person education in one family is supporting many familes of his/her, and thats the ultimate TRUTH!!These Media people are caste biased, they write the articles however they want to!! thats the Sad Story of POOR INDIA!!

Caste should not be determining factor
by Savio on Apr 20, 2006 06:58 PM  Permalink

I agree with your view that social status in the current era are not tied to Caste. The goverment should actually redefine the term backward class based on Social status and not on caste.
I also have a stern view which people think is too radical. I beleive that if people would like to take up reservations based on cast then the upper caste (those who cannot avail of these reservations) be allowed to treat the availers (so called schedule) of the reservation as inferior to them, after all that is their pretext of availing the reservation.

Excellent article Rashmi

Some of the facts which you revealed in the article like
old Census data, and UP's casts status is excellent. I think most of us wouldn't have known this facts. The government really needs to think about this issues irrelevant of political gains they want.

Caste Factor
by S.Bhujanga on Apr 20, 2006 06:45 PM  Permalink

Ruthless rulers guided by their catorie of psychophants established a system political methods of devide and rule and have been practicing the same.It is a shame on humanity in general to catagorise our selves on the grounds of religion and caste. How can one call himself as secular when he practices casteim for his/her political survival.God has given birth as human beings and he has created only two human sexes one is the male and the other female. Both sexes should live with equal dignity and right for human survival.National factor is the only local social development factor so as to make a resonable and dignified living. So the national spirits are welcome. It is high time that we as Indians will rise to the occassion give up minority, majority , opresseed caste, supressed class, upper caste feelings.Politician at least realize now and stop caste based policies and election gimmics amend the words religion and caste fronm our consttution.Backwardsness is only economy based but not caste, religion and sex based.

Quota raj

A very nicely written article. Just wanted to add a couple of points.

Growing inequality is being cited as the reason behind this new wave of reservations. But isn't that growing inequality a global problem? From USA to China, everywhere the rich poor gap is expanding. The resons being dramatic improvement in productivity due to mechanisation and globalisation. Cast based reservation therefore is no solution.

Second, isn't it strange that our reservation policies are still guided by the recomendations which are 25 years old? Hasn't india changed at all in the meanwhile?
