Depends on your requirement. If u have some money to throw around u can go for IPOD. If u just want only songs then any simple MP3 player will do. However with Ipod u can have Videos/photos/Podcasts etc. Remember for Ipod u need to have Itunes for Up/Downloading, So some people may not like it. Rgd Shuffle or Nano, again depends on ur rqmt. Shuffle does not have any features think it as a simple MP3 player, with Nano u have a screen.
I just recently bought my iPod nano and I absolutely love it. The tiny size and crisp clear sound are simply fantastic. The only things I don't like so much about it is that I wish the battery life could be longer since I do alot of travel. Also, its internal battery is not replaceable. My solution to these only dislikes was to just go out and pick up a 100+ hour per charge ipod battery pack from batterygeek. Anyways, so far so good....
Well going for from the reviews of the author and Apple's Success with Ipod, the predecessor of Ipod-the Nano is just awesome!...here's why
It is as slim as a visiting card, it uses no hard disk so that makes it really really light(thanks to the flash memory on the microchip!) and it can store so many music and image files. I think the Nano will encourage big names in the music market to come out with something more sleek and slim, but rest assured that this product will Apple Inc more richer!

A phone, mp3 payer and camera together is already available (eg Motorola E398 the chhainya chhainya ad). It is not popular simply becase the battery is the same for the phone and the mp3 player. so, if u exhaust the battery listening to the songs then the phone is useless.
Speaking basics IPod's does nothing more than a normal MP-3 players which ware USB 2.0 compatible. The newest MP3 players are slimmer than even Ipod shuffler and provide greater flexibility, ofcourse with an exception of memory > 4 GB. besides that IPod's are quite expensive (Ipod suffler 100 EUR, Ipod 4GB 250 EUR) and little complicated to use......
What is expected from next generation Ipod's is the combination of Phone, MP3 player and Camera....this will sell like hot cakes & wake up big players like Nokia and Sony Ericsson who are eager to capture the Mobile phone market......
Let see what comes next........... but be ready to empt your kitty....Coz you can resist but your family not!!!!.......

Have seen the different ipods from Apple. But not been able to choose from one. Want to know from people who have used them.
Can anyone suggest me the most value for money ipod.
The iPod nono looks COOL and also the article was cool enough to give insides into the ipod nano and related ipods. The only thing I found difficult to understand is :
If Ipod Nano supports USB 2.0 then how come the transfer rate can be less than the firewire port. USB 2.0 transfers data @480 mbps while firewire400 transfers @ 400 mbps.
I think you need to correct the statement as it sends a wrong message and specially when you mentioned it in the negatives of the product.
PS : Dont tell me that you were refering to the firewire 800 port as none of the ipods charge thru the firewire800.

Hey rome was not built in a day, sounds cliched?...but hey i hope the makers of Ipod Nano are listening to u. Indeed a video player would add to its versatility!

USB 2.0 does not sustain 480 Mb/sec, it is more of an initial peak while firewire (400 and 800) has sustained speeds of about 400 Mb/sec which roughly translates into about 1 GB/min.
