yes abhishek,
i would like to share my experience as well. I studied from school of planning and architecture , new delhi which is at ITO and very near to andhra bhavan. but unfortuntaley I didnt discovered this place throughout my stay in SPA, though I hanged a lot in Delhi.
I discovered it just few months ago when I was joined IIFT and made many A.P friends.
Now , I am a regular here and though the food is bit on a spicy side especially non-veg , it is one of the best food I had in Delhi.
Forget all those south Indian chains in C.P , Times of India building and the Lajpat Nagar.
This is the best place to enjoy a heavy south Indian lunch.
well , I havent tasted the Biryani yet, can someone throw some light on it

This article made me very much pleased. I too have many friends from Delhi and north. It becomes hard for me to explain them about Andhra pradesh and Hyderabad. More and more articles of this kind will be nice. It is very much true 'who will eat idly and dosa' all life. In fact we have somany break fast dishes if you start making , it takes 2 months for idly and dosa to get the turn.

cheers
Murthy

by KAZA on Sep 20, 2005 05:28 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

To extend on the GK provided by author.

This is for all northies:
There are 4 states in south india:

1) Kerala
People: Malayalis or Keralities
Language: Malayalam
Capital: Trivandrum
Important Festivals: Vishu, Onam,
Movie superstar: Mohanlal

2) TamilNadu
People: Tamils or Madrasis
Language: Tamil
Capital: Chennai
Important Festivals: Pongal
Movie superstar: RajniKanth

3) Karnataka
People: Kannadigas
Language: Kannada
Capital: Bangalore
Important Festivals: Sankranthi
Movie superstar: Raj Kumar

4) Andhra
People: Andhrites
Language: Telugu
Capital: Hyderabad
Important Festivals: Ugadi
Movie superstar: Chiranjivi

So when u meet somebody from South India dont call him Madrasi. First try to know which part of south india he is from.

Good one! Even I, being a tamilian, get irritated when someone refers to me as a Madrasi! I think all of us south Indians should start calling everyone from the northern states as BIHARIS

True picture of Andhra meal
by Anish Kumar Kakirala on Sep 20, 2005 05:23 PM  Permalink

I am telugu ,brought up in Chandigarh . All my life i have wondered why the andhra meals are not as popular as the common Tamil IDLI ,DOSA. I guess its the northies psyche that they do not wanna know about the other states in south -their distinct culture and food.

Nice article abt Andhra Meal. And one thing to spice it up is serving food with Banana leaves. It will give a pleasant look while eating and one must have skill to eat on.

Andhra Food
by Sanjay on Sep 20, 2005 05:11 PM  Permalink

You are absolutely right. After having travelled half the globe and checking about any number of restaurants. AP Bhawan is par excellence in terms of Quality of food, Price and cleanliness. They produce some dishes better than what is served in Hydearbad's Local restaurants. I have been a die hard fan of this joint for last 10 years.

Its a Must try Place for all foodies.
