i would like to know is it possible to open a ppf account in a minor's name. i have 2 daughters one 7 and one 4 years old.
and the contribution is to be made by whom? can the parents make the contribution or even the grand parents if they want to?

yes you can go through, on behalf of your child you can deposit the amount on their name's account

On 18th Sep 2009 my total balance was 69347 and interest credited on 31 mar 2010 is 3,681.00 that is 5.3 % of my balance. so where is 8% interest ?????

Pls check your balance on 31-Mar of 2009 and then calculate the interest @ 8% and you will have the right figure. The interest is calculated from 1-April of a year to 31-March of subsequent year.

i have not deposited Money in my PPF for last two years will it laps or it does not have complusione that we should diposite some AMOUNT EVERY YEAR

no your account will not be lapsed you can deposit 50 rs penalty per year 500 rs i.e minimum subsription and your account will be re activated in your case you need to pay 500 50 500 50=1100

My account is now 15 years old.. can we continue with this account and deposit more for few years if it is allowed. Or is it compulsory to close this account?

Simply go for SBI branch and get PPF account. This is simple. You can get more detail from SBI Officers

want to know what if i deposite Rs.500/- per month, after how many months i will get my cash back ? what will be the amount which i will be receiving ?is it advisable to invest in PPF ? and plz tell me what are the benefits ?
