In my openion the article "Diabetic diet:dos and dont's" has useful information but the approach is more defensive towards the disease as it explains about the consequences, lot of dont's which does not motivate the diabetic to fight the disease.
I would love to read an article on how to fight the disease and live with it as it has no cure.
Doctor, I was informed that in Type 2, insufficient Insulin is being produced. But your article says that ' sufficient ' insulin produced.
Also it says that insulin may be administered for Type 2. If 'sufficient ' qty is produced why additonal insulin to be administered? We are ' non medics '. Hence plz clarify.

Hi, I'm not a doctor but I'm in pre-diabetic stage. Type 2 is basically caused when our cell dont absorb insulin produced by our pancreas. As days goes our pancreas also stops producing insuline slowly. Dear friend, last year my blood sugar level was 181 90mins after food. Now its 142. All I did was 30 mins walking before food (atleast in morning & evenings) no sweet contents small meals 4 times insead of 3 big meals good amt of veg salads with meals. This was difficult to start with but now I feel comfortable & routine. All the best. We just hv to force our cells to absorb the insuline with out tension.

Hi, That is correct. I am also diagosized with pre-diabetics after doing several blood tests. My blood glucose level was normal. But my insuline level was little high. So they did IGTT (insuline glucose tolerance test) which showed that my sugar level was high 1hr after meals. So its true that the insuline is available but our cells are not using it. Let me try exercise b4 food. Thanks.
Salt is the greatest culprit for diabetics. You get enough salt from vegetables in inorganic form, so reduce the intake of inorganic salt.
I am a diabetic since 1995. My Doctor suggests to t ake lot of vegetables(except potato, carrot etc) to the extent of 1 kg per meal. Could you suggest salt also to be avoided like sugar?
I am a type 2 diabetic since 12 years. 1.Doctors from one hospital are saying that since you are a diabetic since 12 years, you should switch to insulin. Their argument is good enough cos using drugs will bring in side effects and squeeze and stress the pancreas to give more insulin whereas such side effects are not there or very less for insulin. It is healthier to take insulin. But my diabetes is under control with medicines, some amount of diet and excercise. Another doctor says that the criteria for switching to insulin is not the long period of use of medicines but whether the tablets are able to control the diabetes or not. I personally find with my work it is very cumbersome and costly to be dependent on insulin. Pl. clarify. 2.They say that bread must be avoided. But can I eat brown or wheat bread as it is totally wheat? 3.Should carrots be avoided or can be eaten? 4.one allopathic article says that karela, methi etc only artificailly or temporarily make it seem that sugar is reduced but they actually block something and dont really reduce diabetes. Is it true? 5.How to control emotional eating? 6.liposuction of fat have the same effect as losing by exercis
