hi ms iyer, well am not from corporate world, but being curious by nature and also having dealt with some corporate co. on some levels, i understood some things very well a] given the no. of people working in such organisation, you can too apoint train them to have a herd mentality where every thing is so polotically correct that it might make you gag with repressed emotions as it is there is bound to be cauldron of emotions flitting around jealousy, cut throat, to get ahead trample on every toe please you boss like crazy, imagine the impact of all the heaving suppression on one's health i would suggest that since one is diffrent when one is one's familiar territory eg;home, amidst friends, family, to work in such multico.s one can adopt a attitude of sheer professionlism, and to remain in touch with oneself that is the key the moment you let go of the reality you are lost forever, you donot have to please everybody all the time you donot have to be correct all the time and you donot have to so super ambitious, that you hurt others ruthlesly, one must have the comapassion and a basic healthy respect for evrybody's viewpoint, but a walkover 'doormat' never .
i agree with u, even we have lots of degrees n all tht but if our communication skills or our soft skills r down thn we r like a big zeeeeeeeeeerrrrrrroooooooooo
Nowadays Communication skill is becoming very important and we have reached such a scenario without communication skill you cant even think of higher designation.
I think that was a good article but it could be improved to make it pragmatic. With the IT boom many youngsters who come from the semi-urban and rural areas need to be given basic tips and a more pragmatic approach in improving their soft skills, for instance watch english news such as BBC or CNN and try to practise on those lines. One could also improve by speaking in english all the time with good english speakers, maintaining a dictionary and so on.. Overall it the article is appreciable.
I would sincerely like to thank you for such a wonderful topic and it has been discussed so well, I request you if these topics are being elaborated and explained and can be forwarded to my mail id, it would be a great help.
Hello, First of all, I'd like to say that your article is an eye-opener for all those professionals who are not aware of the importance of soft skills. In India, like you have already stated, soft skills being not a part of the regular curriculum creates a lot of problem for the people in general in executing their ideas into concrete actions. Here, people are highly talented but they lack in certain basic "people skills" to maneuver action. This results in a low confidence level in them and they turn out to be dumb squibs while communicating with other people. You have tried to analyze the problem with the right kind of approach by hinting the root cause of it.Being a soft skills trainer myself,I strictly uphold the need for training up people in this field and do away with such lacunae.India has a vast resource of man-power.We can tap the potential of this human resource with the aid of proper training and grooming facilities and maximise the utilisation of their services in various sectors and fields .People will no longer misuse professionalism and will develop core competency in any field they have gained expertise.
