how to choose an university in UK for bachelor of business management
by SUNNY on Jun 25, 2005 06:32 PM  Permalink
HEY MAN AJAY
well u can also can chek the british council website. Comphrensive information is given in both the sites..The guardian website publishes ranking of all uk universities and you can check the ranking of each univ as per subject.. so after looking at rankings u can decide where to apply.. dont rely on agents as wat they have in their in mind is their business targets and not the welfare of the students.. You have to be shrewd while choosing university.. one wrong move and u may land up in mess.. most of the univ issue offer letters to international students so dnt get carried away with one offer letter.. do a comphrensive research abt the univ and then apply.. its better if u apply online.. best of luk buddy

UK job situation for overseas doctors
by Samrat Bose on Jun 21, 2005 07:58 PM  Permalink

I am currently working in the UK as a Senior House Officer(SHO) in Medicine. There are lots of hopefuls who are trying their best to come and work here hoping to gain higher qualifications. For this they will have to get jobs in their desired fields first as SHOs and take the required exams.
The job scenario in the UK is very depressing at present. There are many who have to wait for about a year before they can land a job.The scenario varies to some extent depending on the speciality, but the overall picture is not very rosy.Add to that the fact that the home office charges £500 everytime a visa is extended. This can be every six months,or if one is lucky(depending on the job he/she has got)may be for a year or so.Most people who arrive do clinical attachments to get a feel of the hospitals here and these attachments can be for as less as two weeks. In such a case they may have to extend the visa every 15 days or so.
It is not that I'm trying to discourage people from coming here.I am no one to stop anyone from doing so,but it is high time someone focuses on the grim job scenario for junior overseas doctors in the UK at present and think well and hard before taking a plunge.
