delayed filing
by Subu on Jun 08, 2005 09:02 PM  Permalink

Sir,

You had said that for delayed filing you have pay a penalty of 1% of the net tax after the advance tax and TDS. I am a salaried person and all my tax is deducted by my company. So the next tax payable by me is nill. Hence do I need to pay any penalty if I am unable to file the return till July 31.

Factually incorrect
by Rohit Seksaria on Jun 07, 2005 09:53 AM  Permalink

Owning a cell phone has been removed from the one by six criteria. This should be mentioned in the article. Also the income limits for compulsory filing of return has been changed.

Get your facts right
by Priyanka on Jun 07, 2005 09:34 AM  Permalink

Hi,

In the budget this year the Finance minister has modified the one by six rule for filing income tax.
Own a cellular phone - is no longer one of the reasons for filing tax returns instead a person who pays electricity bill of over Rs.50,000 p.a. has to file income tax.

Get your facts right before advising people.
