i didn't travel during the financial year 2005-2006, but i want to get the LTA amount of Rs.30000/- at this financial year ending. Can i claim for the next LTA amount on the month of April'2006 as i planned to travelon April'2006. thanks
As I have sent one mail regarding this few days back, but not sure whether you have received it or not...
Actually, my question is about LTA claim. As I joined my company in DEC-2003, and claimed LTA for the year 2004. Since I wasn't aware that the previous LTA block was of January 1, 2002 to December 31, 2005. So didn't claim for year 2005.
I came to know from one of your article that "If you fail to claim exemptions in the first block of four years, you can carry forward a maximum of one exemption to the next block and avail three exemptions in the next block of four years.".
So could you please tell me that for LTA block January 1, 2006 to December 31, 2009, will I be eligible for 3 exemptions or not??
Hope your goodself shall merit my request and oblige.
This was a great article. Thanks for it. I have one more query Could you please add on to this list. I have switched over companies in this span of 4 years and have never claimed LTA at all? From whom will I get the LTA. Should I claim for it ? or if I dont claim will I get it automatically.
I joined a firm at July 2003 and have undergone a training period of 2 years till July 05. Then I have been at probation for 6 months till Jan 07. Now i got confirmed
So far I have not claimed any LTA since i was in training and probation.
In the month of Jan i.e from 7 to 15 I was on leave and I have spend around 13500/-.
I wanted to know whether I am eligible for LTA during my training period. If yes what amount I can as my eligibility is 24000/- for 4 yrs. Since the block period is over can I claim the amount for the previous block period till 2005.
Since this is a fresh year can I claim the amount for this corresponding year, if yes to what amount I can claim.
I joined my current company one and a half years back and that time my LTA was fixed to Rs 20000. So far I have not availed LTA. This year I travelled and my expenses reached Rs 27000, which I claimed by submitting all my bills. But the concerned person in the Accounts Deppt. says I cannot get this much money as LTA and will only get Rs 20000. Is there any way by which I can get the money I have spent on travelling.
Cannot I change the figure I have mentioned in LTA slab.

Hi, You cannot claim LTA over and above your eligibility. If your salary package incldes LTA of amount 20000, you are only eligible for this amount, nothing above this.
