I don't think Dumbledore's Dead.
by Prs on Jul 23, 2005 12:41 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Well I personally don't think that DD's Dead and that Snape's a Bad guy. It must've been his plot to make Voldermort believe that Snape's yet loyal to him (What more proof, then to kill Dumbledore) and that his (Voldermort's) most feared nemesis is out of the way, so that Voldermort can come out from his hiding. If Dumbledore told his plans to anyone else, Voldermort could have known by occlumency, but Snape himself is an occlumens and there's no way Dark Lord can read his mind, so the plot is shared between the them only (remember the arguement Dumbledore was having with Snape, about something being very Dangerous and that Snape refusing to do it). And about snape, well he never harmed Harry. Infact, he protected him from the first year. Even in the end, Snape tells the Death eaters to leave Harry for the Dark Lord, making sure that he's not hurt. So I think its the Dark Lord who should now worry, not Harry.

I agree. Despite everybody, Dumbledore almost religiously trusts Snape. It's very likely that in the next book, Snape would provide the surprise. However, I think Dumbledore's dead. Personally I would like to see a lot more of Voldemort in the book, it would add to the excitement.

good review but timely review?
by harsha on Jul 22, 2005 09:28 PM  Permalink

hey shantanu, good review but i disagree with the timing of the review. couldnt the guys at rediff jst held on to it for a coupla days more and not be spoilsports?
as some of u accurately pointed out, the disclaimer has been posted right at the top in bold...but is that gonna stop non-readers frm reading it and spoiling the fun and suspense for the book lovers?(my cousin who's not a fan of potter told me who's gonna get killed by whom before i started reading...although i still enjoyed the read it sure was a huge spoiler)
sure, the pottermaniacs know tht the internet's bound to contain a host of these spoilers now tht the book has been released, but what about the would-be-pottermaniacs for whom the suspense is no longer suspense when they eventually latch onto the book?
i agree with shantanu when he says the book ought to be bigger....but as for the resemblance with batman and the likes..cut her(rowling) some slack dude, u cant expect everythin to be fresh and ground breaking but then u never know what rowling's got under her sleeve...

Good work,
by RAMBO on Jul 22, 2005 07:10 AM  Permalink

Isn't it unfair for all to say what he did was a wrong thing rather than saying we didn't finish the book before reading the review?Any one could have known this is a review and stopped reading at any instant, but took the blame to a reviewer who did his job.

Why are you guys blaming him
by Neeta on Jul 22, 2005 02:23 AM  Permalink

Hey, this is not fair. The article says at the very begining that it is a spolier review and those who dont want to know should not read. So stop blaming the poor boy.
Neeta.

the spoiler...
by geetika on Jul 21, 2005 10:04 PM  Permalink

This is for all those who want to enjoy the book, experience the whole gamut of emotions and stuff, and are totally passionate about Harry-what actually makes you look for reviews even before you have read the books?(especially when EVEYONE knows that the net could potentially be bombarded with spoilers)??????????
I mean, why to try and fill your minds with someone else's views and then complain and whine about spoilers?
And yes the writer is a 17yr old and has misconceptualised the word 'review' a bit,but cut him some slack!!He has 'afterall' actually posted an article, instead of merely commenting on someone else, like us out here!!

who is RAB?
by geetika on Jul 21, 2005 09:02 PM  Permalink

The whole RAB thing has everyone guessing and this person could be anyone for all we know as JKR sure has the ability to keep us guessing till the very end.
But this one sounds the best of all the versions that I have heard(it is convincing, though the ultimate test will be cleared only when the series ends)
RAB could be Regulus Black...the trend has been to have a middle name after father for the eldest man carrying the name Black, and father's younger brother for the son next in line and so on,so Sirius had an Uncle Alphard and that could explain the A.Plus it seems less likely that Regulus, son of the Blacks, one of the most ancient and pure blood families(and he was no squib,in fact talented,Slughorn says so)was killed personally by Voldemort just for getting cold feet.Voldemort must have suspected that he had an idea about something...
Also,Fred and George have come up with their best ever-U-NO-POO-that IS so funny!!!

spoilers
by vivek on Jul 21, 2005 07:49 PM  Permalink

Ya I agree with most other reviews that it was a very bad idea and too cruel to post the plot, all the suspense killed. Like karthik mentioned, one friend told me who died, I snubbed him b4 he blurted out much more, I had to rush through the book for the fear of someone else spoiling the suspense for me.
