toomuch .....
by Siva on Jan 13, 2005 12:42 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

The advice given is too much... It unnecessarily add ups the fear of parents.

We are not going to face any war kind of situation. Its a simple interview. I say just they want to see the child and parents. Let them go freely and attend.

I can say school is not a matter. Your children can become a scientist by studying in an ordinary school. We have lots of examples lets take Honble Dr.Abdul Kalam, he came from some ordinary school.

Your children will become extraordinary. School is not a matter, it very much depends upon encouragement of parents and the childrens interest . Instead of giving so much donations you can buy a PC, books instruments etc.

Regards

Shanmugam

School interviews for children
by Aparajita Dey on Jan 13, 2005 03:15 AM  Permalink

I was wondering if we could do away with these interviews for kids like in USA . There is no logic in assessing a child's knowledge in an hour's interview. Rejecting a child damages his selfesteem for no fault of his own.

Dear Author,

Your article does not offer any new insight into the admission procedure. The things that you have written would be the obvious things any parent would do, you might have tried to point out the not so obvious things. I would also like to mention that these are certainly not the tips to ace the interview, the title is slightly misleading....you might have renamed the article to something like: "tips to ensure a smooth school interview". This would have been an apt title, and would have reflected the content of the article.

Thanks.
Satish

i agree to what you have said. what we really need is the kind of questions parents are subjected to and what would be ideal answers for those. the way parents answer in interviews directly affects the childs admission to the school which i feel is very unfair. pl let me know if you have any idea for my queries.
thanks

School Interviews

Instead of offering tips Rediff should mobilise public opinion to end the cruel practise of troturing innocent children by subjecting them to inhuman interviews!

kids school admission
by kuldeep on Jan 11, 2005 07:33 PM  Permalink

you forgot to mention one point that parents must be ready to pay heavy donation which dominates all this preparation tips.

i feel that in comming years we will have tests as tough as IIM's for kids admission to schools.

talking about values, culture, eduaction delivered this high profile schools is evident from the very recent DPS story.

Terrible
by Ankur Arora on Jan 11, 2005 06:32 PM  Permalink

I personally don't subscribe to the practice of various schools to take an interview. Come on people, we can't let our children go through this experience that early. I know adults who has shivers going into an interview. Atleast we should spare our kids. But surprisingly we ourselves become part of the system. I know everyone wants best education for their children but we should also consider the pressure on kids. I am highly surprised that instead of a discussion on ways to tackle this problem we are having an article on how to live with it. Come on people its not always necessary to adjust. Sometimes we need to fight.
