Cigars and snobbery
by Raj Khalid on Aug 11, 2005 12:10 PM  Permalink

Let us get one thing absolutely straight, any kind of smoking is NOT GOOD FOR YOUR HEALTH. Since there is pressure on cigarettes the tobacco lobby is trying to get smokers to light up with cigars. At around 500-700 rupees a smoke this is one expensive habit. Second hand cigar smoke is as bad as cigarette smoke so avoid this in public, at home and around your kids.

Cigars are not addictive? says who? for sure they are habituating. All the paraphernalia like humidoirs, cutters, match box cases are like all other middle aged old coots'toys.

If you have not smoked a cigar, stay away. If you are a fool with money then go ahead and get parted from, it light up.

Incidentally the cigars from the Philippines and Indonesia are almost as good as the Cubans and are far far cheaper.

At one time India was a maker of cigars as well, the area in and around Trichy made the "Black Tiger" and "London Calling" brands. Peacock was another brand from Dindigul.

Guys! will u stop publishing these kinda articles. No one will die if they don\\\'t smoke! There are enough smokers burning this earth everyday.

I strongly object to this article as it is misleading and a public nuisance.

Rediff..Thumbs down

Snobbish Crap
by Girish on Aug 10, 2005 07:32 PM  Permalink

If you have money, you are supposed to live such desperate lives, moving from one fancy to the other till you feel dry and run to a clinic for depression. Whoever in Rediff that is spewing such non-sense has not understood its middle class readership.
