big problem
by Amit Mula on Dec 08, 2007 12:10 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I am pursuing my B.Sc in coumputer Science from Delhi University. I am in 2nd year and want to do a call center job to earn some money. Despite of my good proficiency in english I feel much inconfident during an interview. My confidence level goes down to zero in front of an HR and i face a strange kind of depression whiile being interviewed. Due to that depression i dont produce even 50% of my potential. But when I speak in my friends group or with my teachers/parents i speak so well with relatively much higher level of comfort and confidence. I dont know what happens to me while I get to some interview. Please help me friends...what should i do??

This generally happens with everyone. It used to happen to me as well initially when i used to be for behavioural based interview. Remember one thing in mind you are being judged on basis of your communications ability and also on your facial expressions. So stay calm dont panic and while giving an interview give attention to all the interviewers but just think that you are sitting alone with one persn in the room. The key factors to answer the question are : Situation, Task, Action and Result. Keep this 4 things in mind and prepare your answer according to that. Give more attention on the action and result part. use the words like "i decided to do this" , "My decision in that situation was this " . And the outcome would be marvelous. You will have rocked the interview.

future of india
by Hi, I am Ajay on Oct 20, 2007 04:26 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

what would be the future of indian youth, just for some bug they want to destroy their career, guys really there is no life and no career growth in call centre, initialy it sound good but after that your career stuck somewhere. and just for some bug you have to compromise with your studies. plz keep patience and study little bit more then go for job not for call centres. see the developed countries there is no one who want to work at night therefore they have shifted this type of job to developing countries, where human life have no values. so plz try to understand don't go for call centre there are much more option availabel in market.

This is Kuldeep i have started my career witrh a call center 3 years ago and right now i am in a junior managemnet position is a software company in hyderabad. I feel that the openion that you have expressed above is not totally correct. Call center career has a very good life it only depend on how you explore the oppertunity and how you carry forward yourself with it. Pople who have 5 to 7 years of customer relationship experience is prefered for most of the jobs in differnet sectors as those guys will be able to understand the customer prespective better than a fresh graduate for the college all this comes form the tons of calls that they attend of the cutomers troubleshooting their issues. i started my career with 3.5K per month 3.2 years ago i am a B tech graduate, now i earn 15 times more than the first salary i got. Every oppertunity that you get is usefull so thing in a brader way and apply thing, just dont get deviated by what some one ense say...Keep rocking

Mahesh
You are having a very good career i have compelte knowledge of the life in the armed forces ad both my mom and dad are in the armed forces. i woulod recommend you to first wait for the 6Th pay comession to come so that you have a good financial benifits from it. also the option of the call center jobs are always open for you as these days there are many domestic call centers you wont have any problem in getting a call center job. i would recommend you to compelte your graduation and do some sort of management crash cource which will benifit you in the furture, with your current exp and the qualification you can jump to a higher position once you are out of the armed forces.
Kuldeep

Having communication problems...
by NILADRI RAY on Jul 28, 2007 02:47 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Currently I am doing MA in History at JU. I am very eager to do a call center job in Kolkata to earn some bucks so that I can bear my own expenses which I dont prefer to take from my BABA, since I have grown much. My basic problem is to speak fluently in English as I am living with people who dont speak Enlish, also my family mermbers are not accustomed to it, but interestingly when I write English I dont have hesitations as such... and usually I go on writing answers almost without no obstacles so far as the writing skills are concerned. Now I know that I need to have a good command over spoken Enlish, otherwise I will never be able to crack the call center interviews. Pliz give me some of your pragmatic suggestions.. my email id is niladriranjanray@yahoo.co.in

Hello
First of all its not a compulsion that you need to have fluency in english to get a call cente jobn, there are many doemestic call centers which work throughout india for the local people like the climate dept, telecom, Insurance etc, so y7ou can try out for jobs there. Your written skill are good but you need to make soem gramatical correction i am not pointing out to the spellings i am pointion out to the sentence formastiuon. Also if you would liek to use your written skills thera are many BPOs in hyd and Banglore which provides E mail and chat support to the international customers you can try out there. i am not sure abut calcutta of the non voice support centers.
If you have any queries you can contact me on lucky420@rediffmail.com
