The article "Got the part-time MBA blues" was simply good. I would like to thank you for the simple, clear way of presenting this article.
I have got in all 14 yrs of experience in the Manufacturing Industry in a Supervisory position. I am a Science graduate from Bombay University.Presently I am working in an Software Industry as a Functional Consultant(ERP).I would like to do an MBA(Systems),possibly through Distance Education. Could you please advise on to which University,Cost?
I could really relate to the article since I am myself doing a Distance learning MBA. And it seems to have been written with a pretty good understanding and research on the subject. Congratulations to the author for the effort .
i thinkit is true that almost all of the parttime courses have less value but if you are busy and stil want to gain some knowledge in the management field then part time courses are best.i think more companies must consider the knowledge of the mba holders rather than diferentiating them.it is so sad that even though india has developed a lot , we still never leave the differentiation by marks or type of courses. the ultimate base line is knowledge and the employers forget that (purposely???).
hey guys it doesnt matter even if u r a MBA frm IIM or part time frm chotu motu schools, its all wht u ve in u tht matters in the long run.the degree doesnt count at all in the long run chaps.so even if its distance and ve good curriculum go for it atleast see to it tht u get urself fully immersed in it and ve interest in it and be keen. For all ur knowledge Dhirubhai Ambani was never a MBA,GD Birla he was also not a MBA but still they were one of the greatest ever entreprenuers. So its up to the person which matters

Dear Friend,
I got the info. that there is full time MBA course on Capital MArket. I am also iinterested to do the same, but Part-Time. Pls. anybody give me the details of course and enterence.
I am studying in 2nd year Part Time Mktg at NMIMS.
This time there were 30,000 applications for Part Time for 460 odd seats in all streams. and I do agree with what has been said in the article upto some extent. 1. We have good networks created in this 3yrs time as compared to taht of full time. 2. We have with us job gurantee and experience too.
I no manner I am saying that PT is above FT MBA, anypoint of time FT has more weightage than us 1. They are very flexible as wax, and company can shape them as they want as compared to us who have become more exper in our own respective field and bit difficult to change easily.
Hi, I personally feel MBA is a hyped up course..the course curriculum of an IIM lacks depth as compared to CA/ICWA/CS. the value for MBA is high bec of only the huge pay packets.I havent heard of a company which during troubled times has been bailed out by an MBA. MBA lacks quality but has immense quality (pay packets)
I think all that the columnist knows is 'ballyhoo'. Her analogies in the article the 'dearly-wife' and the 'secretly cherished mistress' is surely an attempt to be a columnist who wants to create a 'furore' and be 'talked about'...'Part-time MBA like most extramarital activities'.....'this one too arises out of certain unfulfilled needs and desires'..What are you trying to prove here lady?...How could you be so 'cheap' and '3rd-class' rated writer...I wonder why IIM-A grads dont 'ostrasize' you..You have been quite 'heartless', may be 'sadistic' to make such analogies.....You have failed to understand what hard-ships a part-timer might have gone through.Your article has surely been informatory. In fact I was looking for something like this. But at the same time the way you have 'insulted' part-time students makes me feel as if you have a 'bloated ego' because of making it to & through IIM-A. I am not too sure whether your intention was of writing something to help people or to 'ego-massage' yourself. In your other articles too your analogy 'cats' n 'dogs' for IT profesionals working in Big10 companies and other ones.....Oh Cmon !! Write better..

I agree with Vikas and Jay as this article has presented the aggression of snappy passout of IIM-A. I reckon media, magazines etc are responsible for the image of an entity in society and if they mislead people then its bad on their face and position being dishonest. I am pursuing my part-time MBA from AGSM in australia and know what i gained from this course and also what opportunities are knocking on the door. They talk about $$$ etc.....in USA, UK etc.... but being an engineer only I earn multiples of the average salary of an IIM-A scholar. I think its not just the degree and college but knowledge, hard-work and attitude counts a lot. These coulmnists are responsible for the discremination, racism and bigotry in society. If they show the right picture to world, our people and country would grow better and be more valuable.

I agree with Vikas Kapoor. This is just one attempt by a IIM student to salvage the remnants of their fading halo. Most of the IIM MBA's turn out to be misfits in the realworld. All that gives them is a free entrance to the club of similarly inflated egos. This whole concept of MBA's doing great Managerial work is just a fad being spread out by self fulfilling Schools..and the Media. The greatest Managers in the World..Lea Iacocca, Jack Welch, Dhirubhai Ambani did not attribute their success to any MBA's.
I dont agree with Rashmi's point of view. To me, MBA is not about the 'campus placement'!! Its more than that. (have seen many of IIM graduates taking a flashy campus job and ditching it within 2 months'..!! Lets not forget that the world no longer respects arm-chair consultants who only conceptualize solution but don't get their hands dirty in building them.. So a mix really helps, and thats when part-time MBA guys can leverage the learnings @ b-school and implement them at their work place... Education is not about degree/certification, its definitely more than that..!!
