India Lost to Aus. And just wait until India plays SA... until they can beat SA and Aus convincingly, there is little point in calling them the Number 1 team.
India is the best team as of now. They are playing like one. Exiting 20-20 WC early does not make an inch of a difference. Just because the media didn't like the way Dhoni spoke to them in a press conference the media tried to get back by hyping thier losses in 20-20. This team has given us joy like no other team in the past, winning consistently, the least as supporters we can do is to back them in thier losses also. South africa lost 5-0 to England, England lost 5-0 to India, Australia lost against south africa and vice versa. Australia lost against India. Tho only consistent team -- India.
India didn't lose any ODI series badly in last 2 years. Dhoni's men have won all the bilateral series in last 2 years except one against Aus. They have beaten WI, Srilanka(twice), NZ, Pak and Eng. They reached in final of Asia cup and Kitply cup. They won CB series. They only lost one bilateral series with Aus by 4-2.
On the other hand SA lost to Eng by 4-0, Aus lost to SA(twice).
The ratings buy rediff is not valid.Even a common cricket fan knows that presently india deserve and is at No 3 spot.onlt good performance in coming months can make them favorable for no 1.So rediff should not mislead its readers by recomending such rankings.
Have gone throught your comments as a cricket fan i would like one of you to think of a format to rate the cricketing teams and then share the same with rediff team so that in case it has merrit they will publish it by saying its ABC or XYZ cricket rating.
This is what Indians are good at to take pot shots on others who try out things and then we accept if a GORA does it for us and we applaud.
I don't consider any of these rankings. Whatever said and done Indian team in spite of its recent victories is still a weak team. When it loses it loses by a big margin while its victory comes always by a good display by a single batsman or bowler and ofcourse by thin margin and always in last over or ball! If you have to consider a team as good every majority of batsmen should show talent like how West Indies team played against us and England team playing now in Ashes.
