Teams are selected on the basis of performance in ranji trophy and deodar trophy and other tournaments and not on the basis of t-20.Yes the attitude shown by the youngsters has been great;also they will gain by playing alongside legends but just on the basis of these performances to select them in the national side would be foolhardy. The reason is that in t-20 you can get away by having little or no technique but the same players who succeed in t-20 may get sorted out in the longer versions of the game. The ipl t-20 can be a stepping stone for the youngsters but definitely not the selecting criterion for them.

You are absolutely right Shaz. Selectors can not throw out seniors based on a few failures or minor health problems. At the same time they cannot bring in Juniors simply because of their physical fitness and good scores in the shorter versions. The seniors themselves should withdraw from such short versions if they cannot cope with its demands. It is easy to find faults all the time but difficult to logically arrive at a choice simply based on what is best for the country. Any choice will never be unanimously liked.

Baseless T20
by talk cool on May 02, 2008 10:42 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

What kind og cricket it is.
There is no difference btw a great bowling and bad bowling.
There is no difference btw highly skilled batsman and non-skilled muscular man.

I dont know why they got a feeling that people enjoy sixes and fours just like that.
How much still we remeber Laxman hitting the best of the bowling in Australia. How much we still relish his 281.
We like great heroics at the time of tough times. Not just hiting, hitting on no conditions favourable for bowling in anyway

i agree with you.Ipl was made with money making being the sole opbjective.
Businessman with money to spare buys team because it is some kind of status symbol.
Also the boundaries of the all the grounds are truncated. As it is the boundaries in all indian grounds are small,by making tham smaller then it will make things much easier.
Let some of these yooungsters who are smacking quality international bowling in the ipl try replaciting their acts on the large australian grounds. Most of them are likely to fail.

Bizzere analysis/ Media biased
by Suman Bhat on May 02, 2008 03:59 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Player/tea, should be judged by the end of tournament
it is not right to criticise / or say someplayer is not fit for T20 type matches. Beautiful and artistic innings played by Sangakara and firey innings by Mccuulm, gilcrist. But players who perfromed so far are not getting creditinstead some ind cric experts like jadeja, k srikant, saba karim arunlal and some tv channel are praising their supersuperstar wand some youngester who are performing better than S/stars not even getting any space in tvs clips or newspaper
Pathan is highest wkttaker but most of time tv channels busy with ganguly dhoni and sachin..
RRS are considered weakest team but they have become favourite everybody is priasing S warne./ his leadership.
things are not going intheir way for captains like dravid laxman are criicised by chockers like jadeja. even ponting jayavadrdhane are also failed to perform it does not mean that they unfit for T20
media poster boy dhoni is flying high though contributions from hayden, hussey and murali are underestimated..dhoni is lucky capatianeven umpires are contributing to his success
KKRs loss yesterday was surprise pack. Even agressive dadagiri of ganguly did not help the team to win match.Even agressive act of harbajan made him out of team..

Gangauly aggressive dadagiri did not won match. Harbjan aggressive action made him out team. Great tendulkar is still in news but not yet facede a delivery.
Dravid and laxman are playing and putting an effort but things are not going in their favour.Though RCs team in below down the table where match points are considered
But his team is on top of list which is for award for team playing game with true spirit

Bizzre analysis u did not mention wrong decision dravid got out which turned match to CSKs otherwise it was controlled by RCBs

What you are tring to say is that the players like ganguly dravid laxman who have played 6 matches each and have so far shown no signs of adjusting to t-20 cricket are suddenly going to change overnight and start clobbering the ball to all corners of the ground?
Regarding wrong decisions they are part of the game.Hayden was out caugt by ronchi in the game csk played against mumbai indians and csk beat mi in that match. This is just one of many examples. So to say that jusy one bad decision changed game is bot correct.Banglore have not gelled together as a team.In every match Rc have played they have had a common trend.A well set batsman will get out at a crucial time and he will be followed by one or maybe two more leaving the team from a positio of strenght to a precarious position.
So we have got to question Dravid\'s leadership if he is not able to get the message to his players.
Great players don\'t make a great team.

TODAYS MATCH WILL DECIDE
by ashok kumar on May 02, 2008 09:53 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

The match of Chennai and Delhi will be bale to give glimpses of the things to come. It can be seen than about the truth and myth about Dhoni's captaincy skills and sheer brilliance of Sehwag, who is the winner. Of course Dhoni right now is leading from front as he is in good from himself. But so is the truth about all the top 4 teams presently on top of tables. Teh respective captains who are leading from frount, the teams are doing very well.

Nothing like what you describe about CSK and DD.20-20 cricket is all about fluke successes of blind shots! It can be anybody's game on a given date.Don't read too much into abilities of Dhoni or Shewag. They are what they are in Tests and ODIs.No miracle can they make beyond their capacities
