Judge the team / players at the end of tournament
by Suman Bhat on May 06, 2008 02:39 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Kumble laxman dravid jaffer such players are puting an effort. they don't go for false publicity or won't take credit for other players performance
teams like RCs, DCs are not doing well bcuz players are not playing to their potentials but RRS are considered as underdogs are now in top bcuz they play better cricket as one unit
RRs, Dcs are failed put up good show as a team. But it does not mean that dravid n laxman r not good for T20 Things are not going in their way
Media and cric experts always biased and easy to criticse players like dravid , laxman kumble bcuz they are less flameboyunat and do not open mouth in front of media. Look how agressive players like harbajn Sresant bringing disgrace to ind cricket. maccallum played a jem of innings but ind media made ganguly A Knight Other Superstar not playing but make sure he is in news everyday.dravid and even Laxman are trying to play.. putting an effort rather claiming false publicity and credit for other players hardwork.
But things are not going in their way it does not mean that they are unfit for such T20 format Players and team can judged at the end of tornament.
chockers like shoib akthear are getting more ind media presence than any ind superstar.
Chockers like jadeja, sabakarim, arunlal, nikil chopra, K Srikant has no moral right to criticize such players. What are contribution old crickters to ind cricket when compared to great laxman, dravid and kumble etc..

i think you have got subjects mixed up.who is hankering after publicity is a different subject altogether.Bangalore team look more like Daddy,s team . n as you rightly said some players are not flamboyant but 20-20calls for flamboyance.
Defensive players should be out of this fomat .no doubt they are good for test cricket.Only some of the australians seem to be doing all three formats equally well.but if you look at the players they are basically aggressive players. So just because Dravid succeded in test cricket it does not mean they will succed in 20-20.Look at Dravid,s stroke all copy book style and when he ries some thing elsr he gets out.Kumble will get badly hit if he continues in 20-20. the format is for yougsters or aggressive players.

Reality hurts but still it remains a fact that Kumble , Dravid and Laxman are just not required for T 20 format - they are not entertainers or charismatic like the other two greats you mentioned!

Gud Suman,

I agree with you..In our country ...people simply comment on others. Ask them in turn what you are doing for your country..no answer.Depending on parents until they get job, If they are born rich they dont do anything except enjoy...eating,pubs,parties,Cricket,Movies. Few people we get hardly some time to enjoy the game or watch movies or enjoy with our friends.

All these games are just treated to be as entertainers for Relax in the competitive world. Its not our life to debat.

"You no need to take care of your country, Just take care of your family" This message to all my fellow Indians. I am doing that .guys i hope everyone doing the same...it is other way you are helping your nation.

Thanks and Sorry as it is not the right forum.

Guys Enjoy and No debat who wins.

Suresh

Good point to have been brought to light. To make T20 reach the highest entertainment level, BCCI should only allow T20 format players to be bought by teams. Test players are spoiling the entertainment and bring down the level of the team they belong to. When BCCI allows players to be identified as 'One-day player' & 'Test player', why no such categorisation for T20?
In atheletics, a 100m sprint racer cannot participate in 10 KM marathon. Also vice versa. This is the same comparision as T20 player and a Test player.
In fact, for the sake of money, Test players are coming in and spoiling them selves.

Owners failed to pick the right captain
by Ashok Palanivel on May 05, 2008 03:30 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I hope many of us will agree that Chennai team is strong due to strong captain. He is also instrumental in team selection / purchases. If the team captain is not a T20 player, the team would also not be T20 format and thus will loose a lot. Bangalore RC is the best example where the owner failed to select the right captain (Robin uthappa) and went for Test player. Delhi and Chennai are the positive examples.

what do you think about Warne...dude..he earlier never played any T20 or captained to any side..urs observations completly failed here. Any games needs attitude and passion, leadership ability and killing instict..the X factor..as Rahul said.

Wait n watch - Chennai will not be in semifinal..I told last week that they will be loosing most of the match when Hayden, Hussey and Oram will go back so they lost last 2 matches..They will be loosing next match with Decan Chargers too. One of the team either Kolkata, Mumbai or Bangalore will be in semifinal..lot of surprise will be happening

Yes, I know. Owner wanter a karnataka player to head bangalore team. So, he should have gone for Robin Uthappa instead of Rahul Dravid. This is the mistake the Vijay Mallaya made.

I don't see any issue with Rahul Dravid being the captain, I believe the problem with selection of the players. Though the captains cannot wash their hands from selection, but this is my point Rahul/Sachin/VVS/Saurav may not play for the next IPL. What is the problem in giving the cpataincy and showing the respect to what they have done for the country. Uthappa is just a hyped player like Sreesanth, after the IPL his place will definetly in trouble, there are Asnodkars/Jadejas/Dhawans who are doing well.

what happened to chennai team yesterday? RR which was considered a underdog team massacared chennai team. what did dhoni do to save this match, he was smartly done off by a non-T20 player called shane warne.
Chennai won only becos of overseas players and now they are gone, soon you will find them at the bottom of the table.

The 2 teams at the bottom of table are having test player as captains. 3 of the top 4 teams today, have T20 players as their captain.

I do not think that was possible. Rahul was made the icon player for Bangalore and hence had to be the captain. He had to religate his position as icon player and come in as a regular auction formate for the captain and the team to be different.

I gave a note to Ishant Sharma, while I was flying in the same flight with him from Chennai to Kolkotta few days ago. He did not even read that or take any action. Had he taken me up on my offer of Positive Living talk to the team through his Coach, they would not have lost another game. I want to help all the teams, football, hockey or Cricket with my challenge to Positive Living, which will make them in turn to win games. Those who need help can contact me through rediff. carmelktra at rediffmail
