The winning 1983 World Cup team was a one time best, but not a consistent ODI team. Same team got thrashed by WI after their win at World Cup. But the present team can thrash any opposition presently. All teams are wary bof it. So which team is better? I agree with Tendulkar. I think Ganguly's comment is just for the sake of opposing and certainly not justified!

Then why did we lose both the T20 matches bro?? We are not in a stage to say we are the best team! Dont talk in a haste, it will be you who will say the team is the worst once India starts losing a couple of matches in a series! So wait and watch! Dont haste your comment!

Just study their recent performances against Australia,SL and NZ. Answers the Q.
Ganguly merely said this isn't the all time greatest team ever. Don't make such an issue out of this.
If you noticed, India has had wonderful teams and great players through the decades, the only problem was consistency, which the current lot appears to have. That's it.
With the exception of Tendulkar and Dravid, none of the players in the team are GREAT. They are no doubt VERY GOOD players and are playing their best as a team, but this is not a team of ALL TIME GREATS. That's all he's trying to say.

Not of individuals who have been there for long to build up records; but with capability of striking terror in the opposition, which no previous team has done so far.

Also, please remember that everyone in the current team is in form. It is quite amazing to note that when the same team does badly, all of us start baying for their blood and call them a bunch of losers. The moment they're in form, we call them the best team in the world, blah blah..
Perhaps the consistency should be shown from us spectators!

Dear You are getting the point wrong, Tendulkar has said that this TEAM is great, which it is and not players are great individually. So Dada's comments are not justified.

I said nothing about Tendulkar's comments. I was just putting dada's comment into perspective for some people in this forum who're kicking up a storm in a teacup.
Most of the Indian teams have been great on paper, but this team has has been consistent, and that's their credit.
BTW it has only been about a year since this team has been put together. We will be the greatest side when our bench strength is capable of beating any side, and when we do it consistently for a long time.
I agree with Tendulkar, this is a GREAT TEAM, but it's not the greatest ever, that's all. I just hope they don't get carried away with the success, as has been the story with many indian teams..

This is a democratic country bro. Everyone has the right to speech, not necessary the views of 100 crore people should match! Instead of fighting for the topic, lets say the headline is not justified! Rediff should change it! Every person is unique and the views of all are respected!

I agree with Sourav. I still feel the 2003 WC team was better. They faced bowling greats like Wasim Akram, Waqar, McGrath, Shane Bond, Saqlain, etc. (at the peak of their respective careers). The current team is good but one has to remember that the bowling of most of the opposition sides has weakened.
I think Media is Mad or they cant understand English or they do it purposely taking some context of the sentence and repesent it in a different way. Here is the best example
Sachin said that this is the Best Batting Line up he had ever played in his carear.
While Saurav said that this is good side but not the greatest. He was pointing to the world cup winning 1983 side.
But Sachin never played 1983 world cup batters and he just insisted on Batting line up not the entire team which also includes Bowlers and All rounders.
